When I started my CFA journey I was dead set in breaking into the investment world.

With the latest developments in my life I moving further away from finance. Regardless I will write level two because failing has me hyper motivated.

The question now is will passing the three levels without any experience be any good?

Will CFAI accept me passing the exam and my experience if they are a decade apart?

@sarah what are you teaching? CFAI include teaching as relevant experience if it is in a financial-related subject.

I haven’t started working yet but I been offered an excellent opportunity to teach at a polytechnic school. I will be starting in September.

It is only for one course but that is mostly due to the fact that I am somewhat under qualified, they usually prefer to hire (Masters and Ph.Ds). However the guy that interviewed me said that if I do well it is possible for this to become permanent and I’ll can close the deal if I go do a Masters. Plus I have an awesome mentor. So the odds are in my favours.

The problem being that it sort of puts the brakes on pursuing a career in the financial industry.

@MattyJ financial math so it would count as experience. Too bad it is part time it take a few years before I can become a full time professor. I think I will just stick to the academic world for a bit.

No worries @Sarah, I think having work experience is more important. “Relevance” is another issue that is easily tackled as there are many aspects/transferable skillset in the work you do. Most of us here at 300Hours started in one field and ended up in a completely different one like @zee!
