I’m a french living (and studying finance & CFA Level I exam) in London, and I am more and more considering Edinburgh as an alternative to London, for asset management. Don’t know much about the market there anyway.. I have researches and applications ahead!
Anyway, really nice overview of your career!

Hey @PMW.CFA. Thanks for the tips.
I am doing a MSc in Finance at Grenoble Graduate School of Business, but am located in their London campus, right next to LSE. Before I did my Bachelor in France including 1y in Canada.
I worked in investors relations in AM in a quite large Parisian boutique (7 months, intern). Now, I want to go on the analysis side. The good part is that I will remain student one year after the end of my classes next june June (thesis to handle in sept.15). So, I can still consider an off-cycle internship.
Right now, I’m dealing with the Economics L1 curriculum. Easy so far, but long. But eh, I wanted it 😉

Started with CFAI, but continued with Schweser with punctual references to the curriculum, especially for the practice questions. I will use the curriculum at the end for Ethics, however.
I would also add that I am a candidate member of the CFA Society in UK. They organize conferences, but also CFA “surgeries” for candidates for each section. Really interesting to consider it for a little update on your past covered materials, without having to pay for the full evening classes package.

I started with CFAi books for this June (just wanted to experience it by myself!), but I will switch to third party providers.
I only did Economics with the curriculum. It is really clear, detailed, but really wordy as well. Since I have a pretty good academical background in this field, I was able to directly highlight the concepts and move on really fast (1 reading per day in average).

However, since I will be clearly less comfortable with FRA & Quant (and most of the rest actually), I will use mainly third party providers in order to go directly into the concept, and use the curriculum only if I’m struggling and need a more detailed explanation..

@Zee, @Swift, thanks a lot. I will just have the regulatory issues to study then. But first… CFA exam!

Did the level I June 2014 in London. Not super confident, but whatever.
Back home, I felt that my brain was totally messed up, so no point in resting. Went out for a quiet BBQ. My friends thought I was having a stroke as I was completely disconnected, starting sentences without finishing them. One thing leading to another, 5-6 bottles of wine passed on the table, I passed out and woke up a few hours later on the bus riding me home. Win!

Hello, Level I candidate here! I live in London, but I am French (like many Londoners..).
I am about to start studying Economics towards the exam of June 2014.
I’m still a student (MSc Finance), and I have a little experience back in France in an Asset Management boutique.
                    Anyway, brace yourself!

                      (switching back to english)
Anyway, if some people fancy doing study groups in London, count me in!

                        Hey guys,
I am re-using this thread to ask a question related to IMC & CFA I exams.
If i pass the level 1 this June, do you think it would be convenient to pass the IMC right away during the summer?
or should I allocate some additional time to go through the materials related to IMC?
I don’t know if there is any content of the IMC that are not in the CFA I exam..

                        (Best wishes, by the way)
