Yep all questions are recycled. I too had done the practice tests, so knew the answers pretty much! I hope they recycle the same questions in the final exam too lol..

Hey there! I gave the MS of Schweser too. Finished in 2 hours, but that was more so because I barely remembered anything. Score was terrible too (<50%). Getting jittery now. Derivatives was a mess. I am on my second reading – Finished FRA, Equity and FI. Any suggestion on how I should strategize? I understand I should tackle more questions, but I am unable to recall much.

Hi Christine! Thanks for the post! I am pretty much done with most of my mock exams. I ended up scoring a 74 in one of my Elan mock. But the score has been coming down now (the last I scored was a dismal 60)!! It is just about 10 days left, and I am just going to review my mocks!! Any suggestions you could give me on how to improve in the last few days? Also, The CFA mock exam does not replicate the actual CFA exam. It is more like timed questions that pop up on the screen one after the other. Is it worth giving it a shot? I am doing CFA practice assessments though!!

@Pranav – I just ordered the Elan 11th hour guide a second before reading your comment! I know its just 2 months and I want to be more focused in my revision –  I am sure I will have to refer back to Kaplan and CFA curriculum. I must admit Level 1 is easy but its driving me nuts. The pressure of clearing the exam is too much to handle. Technically I should not even be thinking about the results right now, but finding it extremely difficult to keep my calm. Anyways, I will keep you posted about the FRA section.

The exact question is “According to the Code and Standards, members and candidates who are involved in distributing an IPO of equity shares and wish to participate in the IPO:
                          a) may participate unless the IPO is oversubscribed
                          b) may not participate because this creates a conflict of interest
                          c) must obtain pre-clearance from a supervisor before participating

The answer, according to Schweser is a), the reason being that Std VIB recommends but does not require members to obtain pre-clearance from his or her supervisor before participating in an equity IPO. So the best answer is a).

I however still think it is c). To quote from the CFA curriculum: “Members and candidates should pre-clear their participation in IPOs, even in situations without any conflict of interest between a member’s or candidate’s participation in an IPO and the client’s interests. “

Thanks everyone. I am taking the exam in June too. Its tough but not impossible, and definitely does not hurt to try. Sticking with Kaplan this time. Will most probably invest in the Elan mock exams. All the best everyone 🙂

Hi @sweethnr‌ I feel for you and know what it is to come so close and not clear the exam. The good thing is you are almost there and I have no doubt the June exam will be a cakewalk for you. If you ask me, I’d say mock exams are the key. I bought Elan mock exams and you may want to invest in those. They are quite highly recommended. As for the CFA mock exams, they churned out the same questions from the section tests. Since I had already done the section tests, I ended up scoring 90+ in the CFAI mock exam. Which 3rd party mock exams did you do?
As for concepts, there is honestly too much to remember every concept. There were certain questions where I too got lost or felt like having read the answer somewhere, but did not know what the actual answer was! Again, the more questions you do, the more confident you are. CFA end of chapter questions are very helpful. It took me a lot of courage to actually open the CFA curriculum given how vast it is, but EOC questions are something that everyone recommends and it is time well invested.
I am based out of Toronto too, and I’d be more than happy to help you if you have any more questions.

Thanks everyone for your inputs, really appreciate it. I think it also helps to do a lot of questions – I am doing the Schweser Pro Q bank after each chapter, helps me understand concepts better. Unfortunately I did not make any major notes except for scribbling important stuff on the text book itself, until I read your note Pranav. My focus is to finish my first read of the curriculum asap, but like Tim and Sidharth mentioned, I must start accommodating time to review past topics. Thanks once again everyone 🙂

@digitalwizard The CFAI AM session was not divided into sections, was it. I opened it to see one Q on the screen at a time. Not sure if I am the only one…

Nope I could not 🙁 I called them up as well to ask. The person on the other end sounded a little clueless, but said the mock exam is not available in a PDF format. So when you go on the website, there are 6 assessments – AM session, PM session, and combined AM and PM session, 2 of this set. Once you click on a session, it directs you to a timed test, but fails to give you all questions at once section-wise. I found it very frustrating, especially because I never start with ethics, and give questions a skip in the first round if I don’t know them. But I think I’ll just do it, for practice sake!

Also, I take a lot of time to review. How much time should I be ideally spending on reviewing a 120 question mock?
