One of the books we were talked about in another thread by Dan Ariely, The Honest Truth about Dishonesty. So I thought sone of you might be interested that he just launched a 6 weeks online course (free) today. If you are interested check out the details here.

@christine they have hardcore reading that is recommended for the course but you do get a signed certificate from Dan Ariely. I’d like one, I might even consider putting it up on the wall (my bachelor degree is gathering dust in one of my drawers).

I must say I haven’t been back to his portal yet. I may end up missing the April 1st quiz deadline…

      Thanks for the share @diya!

      Workload: 7-10 hours/week

Ooof. I’m curious but 7-10 hours is making me have second thoughts.

Does anyone have The Honest Truth About Dishonesty: How We Lie to Everyone—Especially Ourselves (2012). epub/mobi/pdf?

@christine I was waiting for you to bring that up. But it doesn’t count – I think learning done for pure interest and learning done for career should be different. Also some type of information can be transmitted well over video – such as theory but imagine learning playing technique for a guitar via video!

This course seems to be time dependent. Just signed up, there’s 2 quizzes due on April 1st.

@diya that’s a good example of optimal use of tech in classrooms 🙂

After checking it out, first I’d like to say – wow! They did an outstanding job with the video’s and it is engaging but it does require a substantial time commitment. It follows the books closely and the overarching topics aren’t brand new but it is nice to just listen to him and his quirky humor.
Just the videos alone for this week is more than an hour and half long.
I might scrimp on the readings…
and there are quizzes and writing assignments. He is adamant on giving a full university experience…
