No, they are two separate things. Claritas is designed for people who are interested in knowing a bit more (e.g. HR, Legal who work in investment firms) but if you are thinking about the full CFA charter you shouldn’t bother.
Claritas is about 30-40% of CFA Level 1 so it doesn’t really prep you that much either.

Hey @Zee, thanks a ton for your valuable reply. With only 5 months left and a lot of syllabus to be completed, was a bit worried as cannot take a risk with only Ethics completed by now (rest all left as was hit by dengue fever) as the stake involved is too high. Being an Indian resident you can imagine what I must be thinking as the value of the rupee has depreciated considerably in the last few days, which directly affects the amount I have to shell out for CFA level 1. So, was thinking if completing Claritas in the meantime and then starting off with CFA by giving level 1 exams in June 2014 will be a smarter choice?
