Hi guys, I am planning to appear for CFA level 1 in Dec 2013, but a bit confused now. Is it worth going for Claritas first and then start with CFA? It will be great if all you great guys on 300hours.com can guide me 🙂

        Hey @chiragpurohit, welcome!

No, they are two separate things. Claritas is designed for people who are interested in knowing a bit more (e.g. HR, Legal who work in investment firms) but if you are thinking about the full CFA charter you shouldn’t bother.

Claritas is about 30-40% of CFA Level 1 so it doesn’t really prep you that much either.

        Hope this helps!

You can definitely complete level 1 studies with that time and full focus 🙂 Personally I think Claritas is a waste of time…

Hey @Zee, thanks a ton for your valuable reply. With only 5 months left and a lot of syllabus to be completed, was a bit worried as cannot take a risk with only Ethics completed by now (rest all left as was hit by dengue fever) as the stake involved is too high. Being an Indian resident you can imagine what I must be thinking as the value of the rupee has depreciated considerably in the last few days, which directly affects the amount I have to shell out for CFA level 1. So, was thinking if completing Claritas in the meantime and then starting off with CFA by giving level 1 exams in June 2014 will be a smarter choice?

Claritas is for those who have no finance background, and will be supporting investment managers (administrative assistants/secretaries, marketers, HR recruiters, etc.) anyone looking to work in any investment-related role should SKIP Claritas.
