Right, quite a specific topic, but who has used training courses in London (UK) and which would they recommend? (not expecting many responses…). For the record, the company I work for use(d) BPP all the way through: I thought it was pretty useless for LI other than the revision course; for LII one of the teachers was great, the other absolutely abysmal – I was assigned to the latter’s class but just defected to the other one; LIII I thought it was weak and I really didn’t rate the teacher, unfortunately there was only one so no choice there – and I am honestly not just saying that because I didn’t pass! All-in-all, Schweser materials have been of far more use to me than BPP. Has anyone used the others? 7city for example? Thoughts on alternatives? A different view on BPP perhaps?

I think @mattyJ used 7city. I’ve heard good things about them, but I haven’t used them personally.

@vincentt @zee @sophie good question there, who self-studied as opposed to courses? I am quite dubious this time round as to whether a course is going to help me get over the line or whether I’ll spend too much time on parts I am already comfortable with.

I think there is a lot of sense in seriously considering classes for L3. We’ve been reaching out to candidates who did well in the essay portion of the June 2013 exam and quite a few of them have stated that classes helped their approach to answering.

@sophie which is why i feel I might have wasted money for the L2 course and I should have actually spent it on L3 since it’s a entirely different format.

7 city is a good one for London. Though I haven’t personally tried L3 myself. I suspect teaching L3 is a whole different ball game since there’s less formula etc and classes tend to be great in explaining those. That said, with L3, providers would have better insight/tips for essay questions which may be helpful. There’s a 10% discount for 300HC readers too!

@Sophie – only as good as the instructor though and whether you can work with them, which brings us full circle back to which ones are any good!!

lol, i’m sure the course was excellent investment for your recent L2 pass!

Good question @Jwa. @vincentt – I self-studied for L3, but given my near-fail (massive screw up on essay section) experience, I’d be interested to check out courses as it’s not about studying per se which we can all do. It’s all about the crappy tricks when things get vague and move beyond multiple choice questions. I would see that with a good instructor, L3 would be the one I’d try courses with actually…
