Is the mock exam for level 2 only available online or can it be printed out? I prefer to print out mocks so I can write on, solve problems, and make notes on them and also have them readily available to review later…

I took the time and put all the questions from the 4 sections onto a Word document without answers. I figured it would be better to work it all out on paper like the actual test is, then go back online and punch in each answer. If anyone would like the Word doc let me know!

CFAI just got back to me couple of hours ago.
“You still have the ability to print the practice assessments and mock exams, or convert them to PDF’s if you wish. The details on how to accomplish this are provided below.
To print an exam, PC users can hit CTRL+P and Mac users can hit Command+P.
Questions and answer order are shuffled with each use on many of the assessments. If a candidate wants to print out the exam, it’s important that they also hit submit and the print out the answers right away. If they shut down and come back later to print the answers they will find that they don’t match.
Those who print their exams out and take them on paper will lose the ability to track their scores in the system (unless they also enter their questions online before hitting submit). There is no way to manually score their papers and insert their score into the system for tracking.
All assessments are printable, but Level I candidates would generally want to print the version called “Mock Exam – AM and PM” because they can then print all of their questions at once.
For Level II and Level III, candidates can only print out one item set at a time. For each item set they have to hit print, submit, print, submit, etc. till they get to the end of the exam. They can then print out all of the answers in one shot, though.”
I also told them that the print layout for the vignette was a little screwed up, and according to them they have no plans to fix it but told me to copy the vignette and paste it to the word document and fix the layout there (I can’t believe we still have to do this manually in 2014, that online exam company should be fired).
They also mentioned that they have no plans on making a downloadable print version.

I tried the printing method CFAI suggested with the practice assessment — you’re right, the formatting is weird, also the irritating thing is that if your answer is wrong, the solutions section doesn’t clearly mention the correct choice! Their is a paragraph of explanation, which you read to try and figure out what the correct answer choice should be! This is ridiculous.

@Alex_Dolson yes i did this way only. and it worked!
@MockTurtle yes, the options in the item set ends up in different order so to punch the answers back, you just need to coordinate with the ones you marked in paper and with options given. the questions remain same at least for Level 2 mocks. -

@MockTurtle maybe they are trying to see how well or consistent we fair outside exam environment vs actual exam? I did mention to them that printed version would better, plus I’m sure most of us would highlight on important information in the vignette or sketch onto it, however CFAI insist that if we do it online we could track our scores which I don’t see much benefit being able to track ONE mock exam online.
Unless they are provide us a questions bank like schweser with thousands of questions then you might be able to ‘track’ your progress.

Hi @Alex_Dolson, I was thinking of doing the same for my Level III mock exam, but I’m wondering if the exam questions won’t end up being in a different order when you go back to input the answers?

If they are like each item set questions that come before the Mock Exams the order stays the same, worst case scenario would be if they switched up the set order, but questions should remain the same.

They seem to have changed it this year, can’t seem to find the pdf version. I’ve drop them a quick email asking for a pdf version as it’s way easier to do vignette questions on paper where you can highlight important information easily rather than on screen. I hope CFAI could provide the pdf copy.

Now what was the need to make all this so complicated? Since the actual exam is on paper, they ought to have an easy way for us to print the exam. Why did they change the previous system?!
