First time poster and CFA candidate, so please be gentle!

I’ve just finished my first round of studies, and did a test practice exam, and bombed it. I feel like my first round almost didn’t have any effect on my ability to score in a practice exam – everything seems kind of familiar, but I’m nowhere near familiar enough to actually know what’s going on or figure out an answer.

Does everyone feel like this at the start? Should I review everything again before doing another practice exam?

        Help!

Thanks – I’ve decided to go for a quick one-week review then catch up on practice exams!

I had the same experience in L1, it’s just how it is. It’s unrealistic to expect you’d already be doing well on your first mock.

Just keep practicing and the scores will go up!

You’re not alone svengali! I remember my first mock and I got 45% or thereabouts. Think it’s a normal shock, and good reminder to practice loads and get used to the exam style and cover the materials! It will get better with practice 🙂

I scored 40+% on my first practice exam, and went on to pass, so go figure 🙂

It’s normal to have a bad first test score. Assuming you’re a Dec candidate you have 4 weeks to bring this up. I found these posts helpful.
