Same here. I am doing revision from the Elan guide and simultaneously doing questions from the Schweser review quizzes. Hoping to start the mock exams next week too.

I found the first Elan exam (both the AM and PM) to be quite tricky too. To put things into context I’ve done 2 Schweser practice exams so far and scored around 80% in each so I think its fair to say that its a pretty difficult practice paper.

I struggled most with economics, which was expected, and fixed income which was a surprise for me as its one of the sections I feel more comfortable with.

62.5% is a pretty decent score for a first attempt @kawigreen! If you’re hitting practice exams full blast from now on you should be well on track.

The topics you mention you’re struggling with however are quite big topics though. I can’t really decide what you should prioritize.

Your review strategy sound solid. That’s what I’ve been doing for all my levels.

        Good luck and welcome @kawigreen!

Hi @kawigreen! Welcome to the gang 🙂

That’s a good score, especially for first attempt under timed condition! You’re already on the right track: starting practice papers on time, practising under timed conditions, noting down areas of weakness and trying to patch those holes/gaps in your knowledge with further relevant readings.

I think you’re already on the right track, nothing much more to add really!

Yeah I don’t feel that my Schweser exam performance is representative of my knowledge of the material. I know for a fact that my understanding of the economics material is horrible but I’m still averaging around 75% in the economics sections of the Schweser exams. I think this is because I’ve done so many Qbank questions so know the types of questions that Schweser like to ask.

I got 70% in both the AM and PM sessions of the first Elan exam. Weak areas were economics where I got around 55% and fixed income where I think I got around 60%.

Wow. well done @kawigreen. Nice score to start with. Great that you started your practice exams 40 days before the final exam. Good stuff. I am doing the CFAI EOC questions before the practice exams. Hope to catch up on the mock exams starting next week. Cheers.

@kawigreen I scored 57.5%. I can’t say I was happy with that, but I improved to 65% the next one. Finishing in 2 hours is pretty amazing – I took quite a lot longer.

I’m the same as where you are on topics – Quants and Econs especially (my work helps a bit with FRA, Equity and FI). I’ve gone through EOCs so I’m just planning to do practice exams and review until the big day.

Hi again @swift, good to see you again! What was your score in Elan? 80% in Schweser is pretty high!

On practice exams, we just published a ‘how many practice exams you should be doing’ post here: https://www.300hours.com/1/post/2013/04/how-many-cfa-practice-exams-every-candidate-should-be-doing.html
