      Which topic was the easiest and why?

      It was either Alt Investments or Economics, but gave the edge to Alt Investments because to be honest Econs was tough, just that it was quite enjoyable 🙂

      @zee
      I agree. Also I feel that Level 1 CFA Economics book is one of the best reference books for someone looking to revise the basic econ concepts.

        @lulu123 economics because it’s fun. I didn’t find it easy (hence I voted Alt Investments!)

        Alternative Investments was easy too and so was Economics I just like derivatives the best. To be honest since I come from a finance background it was all familiar stuff other than accounting cause I avoided accounting courses like a plague.

          Because it was more basic and introductory at that time. The rest are all pretty new to me!

          @zee @ajfinance @diya do you all say economics because you took it before and were reviewing OR because it simply is a more fun/easier topic?

          @lulu123
          I voted for Alt Investments. I found both economics and Alt Investments interesting. I have studied economics while in college,but the way it was presented in the CFA curriculum is much more interesting. I remember there is an explanation which even includes cuban cigars as example 😛

          However, as @christine mentioned, the Alt investments topic was very short. Also, relatively I found Alt Investments easier.

          @lulu123 I saided equity in the poll but in retrospect I pick FRA. I just simply hate it, I remember in first year accounting I slept in every single class because it is so BORING and TEDIOUS. At that point in time I figured that pursing a CA would result in failure only because I’d never manage to stay up long enough to learn.

          @zee @ajfinance @diya and then what was the topic(s) you found most difficult? (to study or difficult exam-wise) (maybe there was a thread on this already but I’m curious for you three haha since you all said econ/alt invest)

            @lulu123 there was an earlier poll asked by @hairyfairy about tough subjects: https://300hours.com/f/cfa/level-1/t/which-topic-did-you-find-the-hardest-in-level-1/

            I answered FRA 😀

            because its too long? because you dont like “accounting” per say? because you never saw it before? because it actually is DIFFICULT exam-wise? lol

              For me portfolio management just gets the edge over equity, though that is probably because I just find it the most interesting topic. I like to think that spending some quality time on this topic should also help prepare me for Level 2 & Level 3… a better return on my study time compared to subjects like Quant, corporate finance or economics

                @mitch895 I am in the same boat as you. I thought portfolio management and equities were the easiest due to my schooling background. I was most familiar with the topics in these sections. BUt unlike you I gave the edge to Equities.

                    If I recall correctly Alternative Investments was also one of the shorter chapters 😀

                        I think it’s a tossup between Ethics and Corp Fin, though I usually score more in Ethics. I always attempt it in the middle of a paper as a ‘break’ and it is the only section where I’ve been consistently averaging >70.
