Every time I sit down to study my brain just shuts down and wants to go to sleep. Sorry to be a whiner but I really can’t muster the sufficient motivation to study. I’m getting 7 hours sleep so it’s not like I’m terribly sleep deprived.
Anyone else going through similar situations?

Power nap – 20 minutes, not in your bed, be strict about waking up. You’ll feel pretty good after that.

I try and incorporate my study sessions with something I really enjoy – like treating myself to a nice croissant sometime during the study session (not at the start!) That way i keep my concentration and i’m kept in a good mood while studying.

I find it difficult to START studying. Once I start I can go for two hours straight…
Yep it’s the start that kills me. We recently published an article on this: A Simple Tweak to Becoming More Disciplined in Your CFA Prep

oh, what I do is to make sure I always have a full glass of water near me to drink. And in the midst of going to the toilet, filling up the water etc, it somehow keeps things going. Having little breaks in between works for me (for now)…

Useful for keeping fit and passing the CFA – that’s a good article!

Have a good study area, never study in bed or on the sofa, try not to study in the bedroom. It helps to make a short trip (either to the library or cafe etc).

spot on @christine. I always faff about studying on the bed and ending up kissing the books. until I realised I have wasted enough time and panicked, off I go to the library or cafe…
