There are minimum requirements to take the CFA exam, basically you need a bachelor’s degree, be in the last year of getting a bachelor’s degree, or have 4 years of professional work experience to register for the exam. Here is the info directly from the CFAI:

That being said, if you qualify, I would say you should definitely take the exam as early as possible. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll finish and you will be ahead of most of your peers when you get your charter (I wish I knew about this program when I was 20…I’m 29 now). Don’t worry about being too young or inexperienced, you’ll just have to study hard and get the material down, that’s how anybody learns at the end of the day. In short, do it!
