Hi everyone. I am just starting CFA and I am a Level 1 candidate. I completed ACCA last Dec and haven’t managed to find a job yet. I’ve applied to a lot of companies and I am honestly tired of getting rejection letters. I don’t know what’s worse; getting a rejection letter or not getting one. The thing is a lot of them ask for a minimum of one year of experience in a good firm. The thing is I already did not attend any reputed university. I completed ACCA via self-study. I had to study full time so I never managed to get any decent work experience. My question is, how do I manage to gain work experience when I am not given work?

      Hello everyone,

I am non-native speaker from Bulgaria and I’m currently a level 1 candidate and would like to know whether or not my current work experience as an accountant in structured finance will qualify as a valid work experience in computation of the 4 years requirement set forth by the CFA Institute?

      With smiles :),

      Hi Sophie,

Many thanks for your quick answer.

I ask because I answered to all questions asked in the “Work Experience Self Assessment” on the CFAI website and my job duties don’t involve any of the mentioned activities. Only the job title “Accountant” is listed in the sample member job titles :/

Hey Fairy, thanks for the boost. It feels good to know you are not alone. But I gotta ask one more thing. Since as I mentioned earlier that I did ACCA on my own, I am confused about something. I dont know if I should mention that or not. Some people say that I should cos it reflects my hard work etc. Some say its a major disadvantage. Never mention it. What do you think?
