        Greetings,

Today is my first day of CFA studying. I am registered for Level 1 next June and excited and anxious to begin this journey.

Attached is my study plan. It includes topics and scheduled hours. I work a flex schedule where I have every other Friday off, which is why there are several hours scheduled on Fridays. I am using Kaplan Schweser study notes (no online class) to prep with the exception of the ethics section which I will review using the curriculum. The study plan is based off Rachel Bryant’s book (http://www.amazon.com/Direct-Path-CFA-Charter-Strategies/dp/1941074014/ref=asap_B00HNTPIIK_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1417447798&sr=1-1), which I recommend (I am not affiliated with her in any way, so this is not a plug), and this very useful 300hours.com post by Rob Thakur, CFA (http://www.300hours.com/blog/what-is-the-most-effective-level-i-cfa-exam-study-session-order#.VHyUnfnF98E).

If time permits I may post a weekly journal-style discussion with updates and interesting tidbits regarding my study progress.

Is that something the community would be interested in?

If anyone else is starting prep around this time please post and let us know. On the off chance anyone on the forum is in the Little Rock, AR area and would like to set up a “progress group” meeting or something along those lines, post below and I’d be happy to make that happen.

        Best,

        John

Yes @LeChiffre, registered for CFA L1 June 2015 exam. I started on Ethics and Quant simultaneously as my first set.

Hey John, I was just looking through your study plan and using it to make my own one. I noticed the slightly orange shaded boxes in Excel. Is that for topics that will not take the whole week and therefore you have those days for other work/how you see fit?

@LeChiffre the plan is solid. I started my prep today. Please post a weekly journal-style discussion. I think it will help.

@k1rups, the slightly shaded boxes are days that Bryant did not have scheduled but that I added to make it a whole week. Depending on how quickly I move through them, I may use that for the scheduled topic, other review, or getting a jump on the next topic.

@CFA_AI, I used curriculum for Ethics and am using Schweser notes for all other Study Sessions, this is per Bryant’s recommendations.

                  Please post any additional questions.

                  Best,

                  John

John – Thanks for your post. I see that you are using Schweser Notes with no online classes while using the CFA curriculum for ethics.

What strategy are you using (or has the Bryant’s book recommended) for use of the curriculum and Schweser Notes for the other exam topics? Only use the curriculum if more detail is needed or review curriculum after first reviewing Schwezer for each topic? I’m trying to asses whether or not the Schweser Notes alone are detailed enough to fully prepare for/pass Exam 1.

                    Thanks, Alex
