I am planning to register for Level I exam in June 2015, but I've been told that the updated curriculum material is available from January. Is it more beneficial to study from the new, updated curriculum material or to get started early and get the soon-to-be-dated curriculum material?

Assuming you're registered for June 2016 - new material is actually available now from providers such as Schweser. Which provider you're referring to whose material is available from January?
