I am planning to take CFA Level 1 next year in February 2022 and wanted to apply for the access scholarship for it. I have few questions regarding the scholarship:
- Since I apply for a scholarship this year to get it for next year, I have to wait till the results are out and I have heard that they roll out results in December which makes it not possible to register for February 2022 as all the deadlines( early and standard) will be closed by 1 November 2020. Then what should I do?
- Is there any update on when will the date for access scholarship be open to applying?
- If after the results I do not get the scholarship and all the deadlines are over will I be able to register for the February exam if the deadlines are closed?
Thanks for the help in advance.

- The Access Scholarship may have different terms when it relaunches. The current terms were set when the CFA exams were paper-based and on the old exam schedule. All other scholarships have moved to a rolling basis and it’s expected that the Access scholarship will follow eventually.
- Nothing confirmed, but CFA Institute have told us they will announce something “soon”.
- If the deadlines are closed I don’t think you will be able to register for it. You will however be still eligible for early-bird discounts for any registrations that are still open, even if the early-bird deadline has passed.
If you have more questions let us know!

Just some follow up questions.
- I’m from India what are factors on which the scholarship acceptance will be dependent?
- What are the chances of getting the scholarship ( as i have heard decreasing level of scholarship granted since more and more participants are increasing and trying for scholarship than maybe 3-4 years before)
- How can i stay updated on the scholarship announcement from the institute?
- If access scholarship moves to rolling basis how much will the taken by institute to declare results?

- Acceptance factors for CFA Access scholarship is available from the website:
While financial need will be strongly considered, awards may be based on a combination of factors, including financial need; the academic, professional, or other accomplishments of the candidate; obstacles overcome by the candidate; contributions to the local community; the candidate’s interest in pursuing the CFA charter; and other personal characteristics that indicate the individual is a strong candidate to receive an Access Scholarship and become a CFA charterholder.
- No data on this. @zee would it be a good idea to do some research on this? Time permitting of course…
- You can tweak your email preferences here: https://preferences.cfainstitute.org/communication/preferences. Other than that subscribe to 300Hours and they usually include reminders about stuff like this in their weekly email.
- 12 weeks to scholarship results is currently the case for all rolling-basis scholarships.
