Hello all! I am new to the forums here on 300 hours and would appreciate all the feedback possible.

I plan on registering for the December level 1 exams in the upcoming week or two… registering for the June Level 1 exam with no in depth finance background would be disastrous. Anyways, I double majored in International Relations and German and took roughly 20 credits of economics/accounting classes. With this information my question is-is there any reading or studying material I should undertake that provides the foundations necessary to pass this exam? Or would the CFAI Level 1 study material achieve that goal. Does the study material start from the ground up, essentially.

Any help would be much appreciated.

CFAI starts from the ground up; however, they do not show you how to calculate on a calculator as an FYI. Watch YouTube vids to help you with that.

yeah agree with @mattyc. You don’t need extra stuff – the curriculum or study notes have all the information you need.

I think the level 1 materials are all you need to pass the test.  There is a fair amount of calculations so if you’re decent at math you should be fine.  The real challenge is the amount of information to retain.

No finance background here either. I read Direct Path to the CFAA Charter by Rachel Bryant. Also read CFA fundamentals by Kaplan.
