      Hi,

I just registered for the June 2014 – Level 1 exam and am excited to get started.

My initial thoughts are to read through the CFA Institute provided materials from now until the end of 2013 so I can become familiarized with the material at a high level. Starting Jan. 2014, I’ll really dig in and begin memorization, etc.

My question is re: test prep. I believe the CFA Institute provides question banks for each study session, but I cannot find them. Does anyone know if I am mistaken or if I should buy question banks elsewhere?

      Any help would be appreciated!

      Thanks.

@jwdesai – CFAI notes tend to be extensive and detailed, the value add of 3rd party notes are that they are shorter/more concise, which i used as I had less time then. However, they add value most not in the notes but the practice papers or question banks that you can purchase as tons of practice is key to pass!

So yes it’s something I’d recommend, at it’s basic I think the practice papers and question banks are good investments as CFAI doesn’t have much practice papers.

Hi Jwdesia, Cfa institute will provide you mock test before 3-4 weeks.
They will provide you 2 free mock exams and more on chargeable basis.

      Thanks Sophie.

Would you recommend using 3rd party prep materials in addition to the CFAI books? I am wondering if only reading the books would be sufficient.

Hi @jwdesai – I don’t recall CFAI providing question banks, just end of chapter questions in the book, as well as mock exam. However, you can easily get question banks and discounts from 3rd party prep providers through our Reviews & Offers section.
