Up::0The CFA Level I & II June 2014 Results Roundup
By Zee Well?! Have you gotten your results? As we’ve all been through the CFA exams, all of us at 300 Hours know the jitteriness that you’re feeling now. We also know that there can be quite a few…

Congratulations! We are very pleased to inform you that you passed the June 2014 Level II CFA exam. 46% of candidates passed the June 2014 Level II CFA exam.Item Set

Also still waiting for Level 2. I’m feeling disheartened because of that old rumor (true or not) that the longer it takes, the more likely it is you failed.

@justinturner got my results…failed Level 2. Can’t say I’m too surprised. I didn’t get Level 1 results until 1/28 so I only had four months and probably only got 250 hour of studying between all the weddings and overtime. Taking time off to study wasn’t an option because I have to hide from my job that I’m taking the exam so they don’t fire me (long story). My weak areas were quant, Econ and PM. Scored less than 50 in those three, which makes sense because I didn’t put enough study time into Quant or Econ. My attitude right now is that I know with a full year to study I’ll be able to put in adequate time and get a pass. I know what I’m up against, and I have a solid foundation in the bigger areas like equity and financial reporting. I’ll go back and put in more time next year and get the pass.
Sorry to hear 🙁 I put in 350 hours of study, that extra 100 hours made a big difference I am sure, and I probably raised my mark by around 10% during that last 100 hours (which i did in the last 7 or 8 days leading up to the test). After 250 I was a lot less prepared.

Dubinka Passed.. Dubinka is happy 🙂 only 2 areas 50-70 all the rest 70+ Yey!
Just an advice to ones who failed.. Friends I was in your boat year ago.. You haven’t failed until you accept failure so do it one more time..

@microeconomist i second that! i found that i actually did better when i studied less! rather than burning myself out with 20-30 hour weeks, i would aim for 8-12 and found myself more productive, less stressed, and able to retain more.
and of of course, 95% of those 8-12 hours came from the weekend.

@justinturner I’m in the exact same boat. Had my Level 1 at 8:03 central time in December. Still waiting for my Level 2 right now.

Goodluck! Frustrating when it takes this long. I assume that rumour is not true, but i have no proof it isn’t…either way goodluck

nevermind just got it…and i’m pretty sure that proves the “late email = fail” myth because I passed and didn’t get my email until 2 hours after 9am!
What a relief! Congrats to all who passed and I feel your pain if you were not succesful this time around! -

Apparently they are saving the best for last… or that is what i keep telling myself every time I check and still haven’t gotten my results. This is killer waiting! You are checking the junk mail right? Seems extreme to not have received by now. Also, for whatever it is worth I only received the email on my blackberry about 30 minutes after it arrived in my actual email inbox, so you might want to keep track of your inbox/junkmail instead of cellphone since there could be a delay with that as well.

That’s a pretty interesting std deviation there matey, but I’d take it as a pass when I finally get to your stage (with plenty of bumps along the road between here and there I’m sure).
Out of interest. I saw the following online and wondered if the weights published are still approximately equal to this?

This is painful, a colleague taking level 1 received their email 32 minutes ago, and when I took level 1 I also received it quite early, but now at level 2 it has been almost an hour since the email was sent out and no email.

Hi @prost
Yes, it should be. We also take into account the fact that the lowest and highest scores won’t always be at 50%, 51%, 70% and 71% respectively (depending on the number of questions in each category) so perhaps that’s the source of the difference.
For example, for a subject with 18 points allocated (such as Alt Investments for this year), the minimum and maximum for the 51%-70% band is both 67%, which is 4 questions out of 6 right (i.e. 12 points out of 18). There are no other possibilities that fit.

Im still waiting for mine guys – I know it sounds silly but someone once mentioned that if you’ve passed you should get your results within the hour and the later you get your results the more likely you’ve failed. I brushed it off as nonsense before but as you can see when the jitters kick in things like this play on your mind. Is there any truth in the above and has anyone got their level 2 results yet?
In case you haven’t noticed I am stressing the hell out lol. -

The more I look at my score breakdown, the more I don’t understand how I passed lol. I had 4 below 50%, 2 between 51-70%, and 4 above 70%
What you entered
- Your indicated grade: Pass
- Materials used: Elan Guides
You scored higher than 13.4% of all Level II results in our database
- Your 40/60/80 score is: 61.7%
- Your minimum score is: 45%
- Your maximum score is: 75.1%
I almost feel the need to register for level III right away to “lock in” my results…

@Justinturner @edulima @Sophie @Zee thank you all for your words of encouragement. I’m really not that down about it because I honestly did not have enough time to give it my best effort and I knew that going in.
When I found out I passed Level 1 at the end of January, I figured I’d give Level 2 the old college try in June so that I wouldn’t have to wait so long between exams and risk losing the knowledge I’d learned, and I figured there was some chance I’d pass. I don’t consider it a waste at all though. Now I know what I’m dealing with. Also, I’m now going into Level 2 with 11 months to study and a solid foundation in much of the Level 2 curriculum because I did learn much of it this time around.
I registered for the June 2015 Level 2 exam the next morning as soon as the website opened back up. I’m coming back reloaded, with adequate time to prepare and study this time around. I won’t be trying to rush through everything in 200 hours and then take three practice exams. I’ll have plenty of time to actually read all the material instead of skimming and skipping. I’m looking forward producing to a solid pass next June. I actually do find most of the Level 2 curriculum (except quant) interesting, and I believe it will be beneficial to my career to take time to understand it better instead of squeaking out a borderline pass, which would have been my best scenario this time with four months to study.
Here were my results by the way:
Alternative Investments 18 *–
Corporate Finance 36 –*
Derivatives 36 -*-
Economics 18 *–
Equity Investments 72 -*-
Ethical & Prof. Standards 36 –*
Financial Reporting & Analysis 72 -*-
Fixed Income Investments 18 -*-
Portfolio Management 36 *–
Quantitative Methods 18 *–
Your 40/60/80 score is: 58.3%
Your minimum score is: 45.8%
Your maximum score is: 69.2%
