Posted by Christine The CFA exam is relatively affordable ( especially when you compare it to an MBA ), but still can be pricey . And a major source of that cost comes from prep materials. If you’re…

@tacheman speaking of flashcard-style reading, wouldn’t it be great to get the CFA material this new Spritz app http://www.businessinsider.com/spritz-speed-reader-app-2014-3 , has anyone tried this? It would be a great way to at least scan through chapters!

@WesMantooth‌ I don’t know – I gotta say I’m not completely sold on it. Without Spritz, I can scan a page and be drawn to things like headers, paragraphs, formulae, etc etc. Which to me is really impt with CFA textbooks. With Spritz all that formatting disappears. I can see it working with text-only reads like novels, biographies etc, but CFA would be a hard sell to me.

@fabian valid points. I’m probably overly optimistic because it currently feels like i’m super slow at getting through the L2 material and any glimmer of hope to speed up the process is enticing. 🙂

I gave the web interface a tryout. I did find I could keep up at 600 wpm but not sure if that is sustainable on CFA material beyond 5 minutes though.
I always find that there are sections where I have to reread repeatedly to understand what’s going on. Not sure if the Spritz concept will work there…

Agreed @fabian, I wouldn’t retain a single thing after reading a page on Econ or Derivatives at that pace! I think there would be some benefit for initially scannnig a chapter before reading in depth though, or as a review tool closer to the exam date.

Hi,
I checked out Kaplan Schweser from the link above and the price of notes is about $379 (the normal price). Where is the discount/offer for this? -

Has anyone tried the audio notes?? I was thinking it would be a good way to log study time on the bus…

I have. The voices become a bit monotonous after while but I think it’s useful as a flashcard-style of study. Works well when travelling back and forth from work.
Might try listening to them to sleep… 🙂

Hi @sridharcw – the current offer for Schweser just expired at the start of September unfortunately – hence no green, red or gold offer label. Do check out some of the other offers though!
