Have you tried applying for roles now then? Graduate schemes would still work for you. CFA level 1 may be helpful at the graduate level, but nothing is for sure until you start applying and learning how to ace the interviews!

Hi @immortal1989 – tell us more about your job situation / career aspirations? I think you may be asking the wrong question, it should be what you want to explore/do as a career, rather than what the qualification you get can get you.

I am unemployed at the moment and as far as the career thing goes i am basically here for the money factor more than anything else to be perfectly honest. i want to make good honest money so that i can live a comfortable financially secure life. i am not big on the whole career and aspirations thing. i guess i am more old fashioned. so unfortunately i think my question still is what the qualification can get me.

I have done graduation in commerce and i do not have any work experience in the finance industry. I worked in a BPO for a year which i think has no relevance so basically i am a fresher.

@handullz – I’m confused. Investment banking consists of corporate finance?!
@immortal1989 – no I don’t think you need a professional qualification to start a finance role. Everyone’s got to train on the job and start somewhere! CFA is helpful if you haven’t studied much finance before, but it’s all about applying for jobs themselves and learning how to be better at interviews. -

I’d like to get in on this as well.
I will be graduating with my Master in Science – Finance from state school in May. I currently work as a financial analyst for a Fortune 15 company.
I do not want to stay in regualr corporate finance. I want to move over into investment banking or alternative investments.
I will be taking the CFA L1 in June as well, and I feel pretty good about passing them as most of the material was what we went over in my classes. I’ll be 25 in the summer as well.

can you be a little more specific as in what roles u r talking about? what i had i mind was that i will first clear the level 1 than start applying for jobs coz i figured i needed some kind of professional qualification to be eligible to appear in the interviews of core finance jobs.
