in reply to: Average Practice Exam Scores #82417Up::7RoyD said:@Stuj79 you’re scoring 75-85% and not feeling safe? That scares me even more lol. Well I took another test today and scored 75 and 73 %. Still not feeling anywhere close to comfortable. Really hope the actual exam is easier than Schweser. Btw do you feel the CFAI mock is a must answer test? There are just 3 more days before the exam and I was wondering if I should do that or just do some last minute revision.
Should definitely do the CFAI one @RoyD!
in reply to: calculating periodicity #76068in reply to: Question of the Week – Fixed Income #80914in reply to: Results tomorrow! #81673in reply to: Time Tranching #85713Up::6Credit tranches are relating to default situations (addressing credit risk), whereas time tranches are for cash flow and payments (prepayment risk).
So time-tranching (or prepayment tranching) determines how principal cashflows are allocated. This can be sequential (senior tranche first) or some other custom parameters, depending on why/how the product was structured.
in reply to: Why are we pursuing the charter? #66809Up::5I’m in AM at the moment at entry-level – let’s just say it’s CFA or my ass out of the door. Plus it really helps me do my job as I majored in history in university…

Thanks for all the advice guys! 🙂
in reply to: What is your reading method of choice? #67823Up::5This is super interesting. Work experience clearly helps a lot, and in my case it’s in 2 ways:
1. There are areas where the topics are really, really clear for me because I face these every day in my role;
2. Peer pressure. Since quite a few colleagues are charterholders, and also current candidates, I have an extra bit of determination to make sure I pass (hopefully!)
in reply to: What do you do? #68243in reply to: Thinking of taking the plunge into the CFA exam… #70782in reply to: I’ve become such a fat ass and a jerk to everyone #71306in reply to: Practice exam scores… #71501Up::5I do one on Saturday and look it over on Sunday. I take about 2.5 hours to finish a paper if I work solidly, but I’m not doing it under exam conditions so it extends to about 3-4 hours (breaks, gazing off into space, so on). Hopefully I can do another one over the space of the work week, and I’m taking the last week off so I’ll cram then as well.
What’s your strategy for the last month? Obviously different levels but nice to know what everyone’s strategy is 🙂
