Some days I feel optimistic, but some other days (most days actually) I can’t seem to remember a thing, and I panic. I feel resentful that I have to go to work during the day and do work things when I could be studying!
Up::5Thanks @Alta12. I have a question about the ST debt part. In the CFAI readings (Reading 34) it says: when finding the net increase in working capital for the purpose of finding free cash flow, we define working capital to exclude cash and cash equivalents as well as notes payable and the current portion of long-term debt.
So that means from the current liabilities we would be leaving out notes payable and the current portion of L-T debt. Is ST debt the same as notes payable?Up::5@zee Thanks, after the exam I just wanted to get away from anything CFA-related until the results were announced! I’ve made several attempts to fill in the results analysis form (used Safari and Firefox browsers) but it keeps telling me that I haven’t filled in all the required fields. Did anybody else have the same problem?
in reply to: Beware the tips! #74539Up::5I know which one you mean! I didn’t study it either and was rather annoyed to find it popping up in the exam. I passed, but scored <50% that topic area.
Up::5They could forbid wristwatches if they made sure that the exam halls had prominent clocks that were visible to all the candidates. My Level 2 exam room had a clock in one corner and I couldn’t see it properly, so I was glad I had worn a wristwatch.
Google Glass is obvious looking now, but if there are improvements to the technology and if competitors come in, then there might be models in the future that look no different from ordinary glasses.
No easy answers, really. Just hope that the powers that be are thinking ahead of these possible developments!
in reply to: CFA Level 2 2014 Ebook #74847Up::5@Dr_Pain28 I think that is for the Level 1 books for Dec — for the higher levels the cost of registration includes the e-books, and you have the option of paying an extra $150 + shipping for the print books.
in reply to: How did you first hear of 300Hours.com? #75986Up::5I searched for ‘CFA Blog’ or something like that and found the 300 Hours Blog. The forum didn’t exist then. I joined in order to get my L1 results analysis and then found it a very helpful place for L2 preparation.
in reply to: I need advice on whether this is right for me… #76728Up::5@matthewjf2 Good to know that your GP can help. Self-doubt and fears can be quite hobbling and I really felt for you when I read your post. Do you have supportive colleagues, friends, family members who can be by your side in the final week before the exam, to give you encouragement and reinforce your confidence?
in reply to: CFAI topic exam issues #78391Up::5@CFAcharterwannabe‌, I am a Level III candidate and I could submit the answers for the topic problems on my laptop (Macbook Air, Safari browser) without any problems.
in reply to: 2010 Level III AM Exam #78461Up::5@ravivooda, @vincentt, @marc, @Alta12‌, @AjFinance‌, @Sophie‌, @Betankrich‌, @MM12‌ thanks so much for the explanations.
in reply to: Buying additional practice exams #70482Up::4Wow, Sophie thank you so much for your prompt and very helpful answers! I’ll check out the above items and see which one I want to buy. I’m really glad that this forum exists, I feel more comfortable asking questions here than on the CFA Candidates LinkedIn group.
in reply to: Buying additional practice exams #70521Up::4I passed Level 2, what a relief! I tried to enter the results analysis form, but it keeps telling me that I haven’t filled in all the required fields?
From the Level 1 results analysis posted here, it seems like the overall scores were higher than it was for the Dec 2012 Level 1 exam. I’ll repeat the advice to attempt Level 1 again for Dec if you failed this time.
in reply to: Study Plans/Techniques #74567Up::4Hi @stt00007, the CFA exams are a little bit different from the exams that come at the end of standard academic courses. Firstly, the goal is to pass the exam (learning the material is the means to achieve that end). The best way to achieve this goal is to do as many practice problems and mock exams as possible. That’s when you truly understand the material. Since you must have already gone through all the chapters, it won’t take you so much time to read the material again. Finish it and then set the last two months (You’re aiming for June 2014, right?) for doing problems and mock exams (look at the forum discussion for great resources for buying additional mock exams and question banks).
I am not personally fond of group study (I get very tense imagining that everybody else knows a lot more than me) but that works to motivate lots of people, so you can find out if there are other candidates in your local area with whom you can study. It might make it more enjoyable, depends on what your studying style is.
Best of luck with your preparation.in reply to: The Honeymoon Phase #74670in reply to: CFA Level 2 2014 Ebook #74730Up::4@graemeA if you got the e-books for Level 1, then you should already have a Vitalsource account. CFAI would have sent you an email with instructions on how to access your e-books if you already have an account, and how to set up a new account if you don’t have one. If you’re still having problems after following the instructions, you can phone the Vitalsource helpline.
