in reply to: Dec Level I’s – how’s studies coming along? #75898Up::4
I just generated an random sample of 60 question across all subject matter and scored 53.33%. Freaking out! that’s not good. I’ve debriefed and reviewed the questions I got wrong. Would it be worth the time to go back and re-reading everything or just keep doing more questions and de-briefing?
in reply to: How well prepared am I? #76410Up::4Really good @Chevalier.
I’ve done about the same number of mocks but only scoring between 60-65% this is worrying me! Going to do the CFA one tomorrow, but just nervous that I am not where I should be. Sometime it feels like the luck of the questions; like there be one mock where I hit almost all fixed income then another where I bombed it. Does anyone else feel this way?
Up::4I echo your sentiments @justinturner ~ now knowing the questions on the exam I wish I jump into my delorean and redo my studying and focus more on the stuff that was actually questioned.
I am glad it’s over. But sadly I feel like I am going to be rewriting this in June 🙁
in reply to: How are the June 14 Level 2 studies coming along? #78399Up::4Thank you for the advice @Sophie and @edulima. @curlylocks88 so glad that someone else is in the same boat. Massive few weeks ahead.
in reply to: Dec Level I’s – how’s studies coming along? #75708Up::3I’ll be through all the Schweser books by the end of next week. I have just been doing the chapter concept checks not anything from Qbank. I was going to then go though all my highlights and notes – and read each LOS to make sure I understand it. Then do read/do questions from Qbank and then as many mock exams as possible. Is this a good use of time?
I am getting nervous as I feel like have forgotten everything that I had read earlier! Any advice is greatly appreciated.
in reply to: Level 2… Ready, Set,….GO? #77102in reply to: SCORE RELEASE DAY #77197Up::3Passed!
yes it was sitting in spam since 9:03 am!!!! so annoying
I think I may have “just” passed – considering that i have less than 50% in 4 different subject areas. Will need to step it up for level 2.

in reply to: help to solve problem alternative investment #78306Up::3They use (r-g).
Just doing this in step: the dividend is discounted back (1/1.085) +(1.06/1.085^2) = 1.8204
To calculate the terminal value at you you take the future dividend divided by r-g:
(1.06 x 1.05)/(0.085-0.05) = 37.10 which is discounted back 2 year 37.10/(1.08^2) = 27.01Add total discounted cf: 1.8204 + 27.01 = 28.83
in reply to: How are the June 14 Level 2 studies coming along? #78374Up::2I just wrote my 1st practice exam – the morning part of exam 1 of Scheswer practice exam … and whoa. It’s so much harder/ different than I thought it would be. Did terrible – only got 48%! I am going to review everything I got wrong. But the one exam doesn’t have breathe of the entire curriculum is it worth writing the second half as well before stepping back and reviewing?
in reply to: Study Plan? #79795Up::2When would you recommend starting to study for Level 3? With level 2 I was only able to start at the end of Jan after level 1 marks were released, since I have more time with this level I want to make sure I have solid study plan.
in reply to: How are the June 14 Level 2 studies coming along? #78185Up::1Finally through the content! Going back now and reviewing ~ hate the feeling where I know I have read something (back in Feb) but it seems all new and foreign again. 🙁 #sigh
in reply to: I Need Some Motivation Right Now? #81022Up::1I am in the same boat @kingmaker.
Seriously lacking motivation to crack open the books for level III. I’ve opened them a few times but just can not sit there study. A co-worker told me that level 3 isn’t nearly the beast that level 2 was, so starting in January should be fine. Not sure if anyone has input on that or not.
I signed up for a free question of the day from Schweser but haven’t done much with the questions. Just filed them in a folder for later. Here’s the link: http://go.300hours.com/kaplanschweser-questionoftheday
in reply to: Level 2… Ready, Set,….GO? #77097Up::0Hi – I wrote level 1 in December and in a similar situation as @toeknee9121 on just waiting for result. I remember reading that there will be a level 2 offering in December (for the 1st time). I am hoping that’s the case.
Can someone please comment or provide an update on this?
Thanks.
in reply to: How did it go? No question discussions please #79215Up::0Delighted it’s over! There was stuff I knew, stuff I should have known but couldn’t recall and so much stuff I spent hours mastering that didn’t show up at all! I agree with the comments above – based on the practice exams was surprised the weights given to some areas.
in reply to: Active Currency Management #82011Up::0It was from the slides in the Schweser class.
The response by the instructor: This is a simple case of
the forward market being in contango with the forward rate being above the
current spot rate. In this situation as the contract matures the forward rate
will converge to the spot rate and since the forward rate is above the spot
rate the forward rate will fall so if you had bought the EUR at the forward
rate of 1.133 USD/EUR at maturity of the contract you would suffer a loss
because the spot rate at maturity would be below the forward rate of 1.133
USD/EUR. You would be paying more for the EUR than it would currently be worth. If they asked this on the exam I think I would still get it wrong.
