Yes @LeChiffre, registered for CFA L1 June 2015 exam. I started on Ethics and Quant simultaneously as my first set.
in reply to: CFA curriculum in the PDF format #80312Up::4There is no way to download the material in PDF directly. All the curriculum books are accessible on vitalsource. If you have a pdf printer installed on your computer, then you can convert the curriculum per reading into pdf. This need to be repeated for all the readings.
I converted the whole curriculum and ordered for print. I feel convenient reading on a printed version.
Alternately, on a tablet, you can download and access all the the content using CFA Program study app.
Up::4This can be solved in 2 steps.Time line 1 -> What is the amount that Reena need to deposit to award $25,000 annually @ 4% semi annually, starting from next yearStep 1 -> calculate Effective Annual rate which is ((1 + r/m)^m) -1. Hence EAR = ((1+0.04/2)^2) -1 = 4.04%Step 2 -> PV of a perpetuity where annual return is $25,000 and rate of return is 4.04% is A/r = 25,000/0.0404 = 618,811.88Time line 2 -> What is the amount that Reena needs to deposit now so that the deposit is 618,811.88 by the end of 3 years @4% semi annuallyThis is simple TVM problem where FV = 61,8811.88, r = 4.04, N = 3. I got the answer $549,487.24Option b.Hope I am correctUp::4Thanks @rishabhc2000. There was a problem in the CFAI material to calculate skewness and kurtosis. in reply to: Today (Dec 1, ’14) is Day 1 of June ’15 Prep #81294Up::3@LeChiffre the plan is solid. I started my prep today. Please post a weekly journal-style discussion. I think it will help.
Up::3Hi Sophie, Is there any way to use stat functions in calculating skewness and kurtosis? I find it tedious to calculate cubes and ^4’s.
