in reply to: Does anyone have a reliable formula sheet? #84372Up::5
Most providers give a formula sheet. Making your own as you go along is also great for memory retention.
in reply to: Any recommended reading for CFA candidates? #84374Up::5Is it essential to read up on all this or is the core material (CFA institute books or Schweser) enough? Appreciate the book recommendations but this thread is making me a bit unsure on what is needed and what is extra.
Up::5ec_test said:Hi there,I can’t speak from experience because I haven’t taken the Level 3 exam yet (I just registered), but I personally like paper better. I ended up getting the CFAI paper books and I find them practical for situations where I can’t bring a laptop with me. I think it is a matter of your preferred studying style.
Does that mean you used CFAI books for L1 and L2? Did you find them useful?
in reply to: Anyone know when CFA L1 results come out? #84887Up::5I had a dream last night that it was results day, but mine was sent to someone else and he just wouldn’t let me know, and the CFA Institute said ‘there was nothing they could do’.
Most of my dream was me trying to email and phone this person trying to convince him to tell me, and he kept saying things like ‘check back in two weeks, I might be able to tell you then’.
So glad when I woke up. Blaeragh.
in reply to: Question of the Week: Level 2 – Ethics #85098Up::5MarkMeldrum said:CFA Institute Standards of Professional Conduct require Lee to obey the law, and, here, she violated the law by retaining records beyond the 6-year limit allowed by statute.
Lee has not violated Standard V(C) because there is no requirement to retain records for seven years, and CFA Institute’s recommendation to retain records for seven years applies only in the absence of regulatory guidance or firm policy. Here, regulations require destroying the records after 6 years.
So is the answer B or C?
in reply to: Study for L1 again? Take a break? Power through? #85342Up::5Just take the time off. At the risk of sounding pessimistic, it’s too soon to restart even if you did fail anyway.
in reply to: What is everyone up to post exam? #84324Up::4Finally doing up our flat that we moved into last year. Living (and studying) on and among boxes can only work for so long. Shopping for furniture is not as fun as I thought it would be.
in reply to: The true cost of the CFA exams #84355Up::4I’m lucky in a weird way in that area – my partner is also studying for the CFA (one level above). So we’re nerding out together…
Up::4I’m not using CFA Institute – advice I’ve taken recommends using CFA Institute stuff in Level 3. However if anyone has an opinion on my approach please chip in!
in reply to: How to download CFAI curriculum on your laptop? #84553Up::4I had the same problem. In my case it was an account error, just call/email the vitalsource people and they’ll correct it in a few days. If you’re using the download software, also make sure you update it, otherwise they’ll just ask you to update it instead of checking on their end!

Based on what you’ve said, I’ll go ahead and conclude that increasing your confidence is a priority.
One tip I remember reading from the blog is to retake practice exams you’ve previously attempted, so that you get a bit of a confidence booster while still increasing your knowledge (you would have forgotten quite a lot even if you’ve done it before). I would stop grading practice exams, just focus on a ‘collaborative’ approach of learning as you test, rather than focus on finding out what your ‘score’ is.
Find confidence in familiarity, and resist ‘testing’ yourself, even in your study thoughts. Good luck!
in reply to: Best Way to Study #84609Up::4Anggi1025 said:Hi All, I’m Anggi and totally overwhelm with CFA Level 1 materials! Even finding the Ask Question here is overwhelming me.
I plan to join the Dec 2018 exam, previously June 18, but as time goes by, so does my confidence.
I would like to ask your opinion:
1. Quantitative is the first to dive, but I’ve been stuck with Statistics fod months. Should I go on with Quant or jump into another subject?
2.The second is Financial Analysis and Reporting?
3. What about the third and so on..
4. Shall I read the whole subject of one book or read few subjects concurrently from different books?Thank you so much for your advice.
Agree, this doesn’t make much sense to me. If you’re interested in registering and passing the CFA exams, start by registering for it. You have plenty of time to study for June 2018 so December 2018 makes no sense either. Once you register and get some study books, all your questions will be naturally answered.

in reply to: Analystprep question bank for cfa level 3 #85644Up::3They probably won’t take any action. Hopefully. My colleague (accidentally) did that a few years back and got away with it. But really if they decide to be strict I don’t think you have much wiggle room.
Why did you write question numbers on your exam ticket?
in reply to: What is everyone up to post exam? #84329in reply to: Which order should I study the topics? #84332Up::3I did them in order – Ethics was not a good start, so I’d recommend leaving it for later. It was super boring and I think studying other topics might give a bit more context to the Ethics material.
