in reply to: How well prepared am I? #76461Up::5
80% in schweser or in the CFA Mock? I am currently at 75-77, so I hope I can do this in 11 days =)
in reply to: How well prepared am I? #76519Up::5Got another 79…. ethics has had a higher variance in the last Mocks, so I will be doing another session of it.
in reply to: How are everyone’s practice exams going? #78791Up::5I did 4, range is from 72 – 77%. I also did 1400 Q-Bank questions so far and have an average of ~76%. Only thing that makes me nervous is, that some areas are really volatile and that I’m kinda not improving any more.
in reply to: How are everyone’s practice exams going? #78804Up::5well, for me the level of difficulty was 1 > 3,4 > 2
I think it has a lot to do with the topic weightings, as they differ throughout the exams. My scores were closer together though.
in reply to: How well prepared am I? #76413Up::4I’ve had that in Quant with a 53% on the first Mock and 86% on the last one 🙂
Greater fluctuations in the smaller topics (Portfolio / Derivatives / Alternatives) should be kinda normal.
in reply to: Margin Call Question #76452Up::4Now I get confused ^^
Say Po is 100, IM is 50%, MM is 25%
As I understand it, a Margin call occurs, when the price dips 66,7. Than my maintenance margin is 16,7 (66,7 * 0,25) and the funds in my account are also 16,7 (50 – 33,3).
In case I only have to provide MM if the price dips (but not goes beyond MM), I don’t need to provide any additional funds. Where is my mistake?
Up::4You can enter your answers at Schweser (online) and get the averages there. For me (I just took exam 3 Morning) it is the other way around. I had problems with ethics in Mock 3, but I aced the other parts and my average is moving up (71 on the first exam, 75 on the second one and now 77 on the morning session).
Up::4I asked a similar question in another thread. Ppl said (and I quote :D) try to get 80% at your last practice exam and you will “breeze through the real deal”. Also, the benchmark on Exams I get from Schweser are around 69-71.
For passing: the CFA Institue indicates that you will pass for sure if you have at least 70%. In the range below 70 (high 60s) Ethics seems to matter more.
Up::4Also Dan shared a collection of CFA Mocks from previous years in this thread:

in reply to: The last 2 days =) #76622Up::4Did my final Mock today and scored an unbelievable 86,2%… tomorrow just some review and hopefully I will have a good exam on Saturday 🙂
in reply to: Have your freakout #78980Up::4I had mine on the last exam of the Schweser Mocks… than I entered the scores and found, that this one has the worst average of all Schweser Mock’s.
Up::3First you have Assets up (cash) Liabilities up (debt). You than use your cash to repurchase shares, so the Assets decrease. As Liabilities stay the same, Equity must also decrease. Thus, when you repurchase stock using external debt Liabilities go up and Equity goes down, increasing financial leverage.
Up::3I checked that. The CFAI seems to have updated their PDFs. I got an old version, that was wrong 🙁
in reply to: Have your freakout #79057in reply to: Problem with a question from Q-Bank #76326Up::2From CFA FAQ:
What is the “ethics adjustment”?
The Board of Governors instituted a policy to place particular emphasis on ethics. Starting with the 1996 exams, the performance on the ethics section became a factor in the pass/fail decision for candidates whose total scores bordered the minimum passing score. The ethics adjustment can have a positive or negative impact on these candidates’ final results.
CFA Institute has a policy of not releasing either the minimum passing score or individual candidate scores. Consequently, CFA Institute does not release specific information about the ethics adjustment or the candidates who were affected. The adjustment has had a net positive effect on candidate scores (and thus pass rates) in most exam sessions. The published pass rates always take into account the ethics adjustment for borderline candidates.
