in reply to: Best study material for CFA L2 #85449Up::9
Thanks for the info fairy. my situation isn’t covered by the examples, and I’m not sure whether to use the name change form (it seems to be for actual legal name changes) but will email them to clarify.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Up::9I got C – 100.12.
Price of bond = NPV of 4 coupon payments in years 3-6 + NPV of bond capital
= 9/(1.055^6) + 9/(1.060^5) + 9/(1.065^4) + 9/(1.070^3) + 100/(1.055^6)

I use them when I need extra explaining for particular concepts because I find his explanations simple and doesn’t have to use the ‘official’ language that books do.
But I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to only use Mark Meldrum videos.
The NYSSA videos are also pretty awesome – Nathan Ronen is a great instructor.
in reply to: How to download CFAI curriculum on your laptop? #84602Up::6How do i write CFA Level 1 passed on my academic qualifications for a masters degree college application?
in reply to: What do you do? #72588Up::5Hey all, Level 1 Candidate, currently a portfolio analyst for a giant Investment/Asset Management firm +$2T AUM. I graduated with my MBA in 2012, and am looking forward to being through level 1 (HOPEFULLY!!!)
in reply to: Schweser Practice Exams – Helpful? #72932Up::5I think completing it saves some of those awkward conversations during an interview, as opposed to stating ” I’m constantly trying to better myself and develop a holistic skill set to better evaluate investment opportunities and provide my knowledge as a resource to my team.” Bam.

Maybe the row should read “To Change Inventory Accounting Method” (strike the from/to specifics)? Your call.
in reply to: Modified Duration #78630Up::5Yes, it did answer the question. The reason why I’m not able to see why ModDur is the way to go for embedded options is because ModDur is not the way to go for embedded options.

in reply to: Printing from eBook #83000Up::5It’s possible using the VitalSource Bookshelf software through which you view the eBook.
When you choose to print, it appears to only allow you to print one page at a time, but I discovered that I was able to print each Study Session in full every time. I printed to PDF first just to ensure that it had exported every page.
Now I use a mix of eBook and paper, depending on where I’m studying. Paper is preferable as I tend to get less distracted than if I am in front of my computer. If you have the option of printing and buy a bunch of binders or wallets, it’s very cost effective.in reply to: How are your preparation going for CFA level 1? #83732Up::5I find that Lisa Pollack’s tip on the FT.com Alphaville page was best.
Lie back on your bed, take deep breaths, and repeat to yourself “I don’t have cancer…”Also good to learn how to harness and control that anxiety to force yourself to become super disciplined in every part of your life to maximise study time and make sure you are at your peak during that time.
I’ve taken two mock exams, the second worse than the first, and I’m reviewing my incorrect answers and hoping to retain the correct knowledge.
I also bought the SchweserPro Qbank and I’ll get around to blasting through that in the final fortnight.
Up::5My Level I mock exam results were all between 35-49%, but to my horror they only got worse with each subsequent mock exam.
Then to my huge surprise, I passed. Time was not an issue, but I did have to pay attention when reading the questions, because of my tendency to choose an answer before fully comprehending the question. Also I averaged 7-8 hours a day of study, review of incorrect mock exam answers, and Schweser QBank questions in the final two weeks, with a break from study on the afternoon and evening before the exam day.
