I am from IT field. My hobby/interest in finance led me to do CFA program. And I managed to pass L3 recently. So I have no working experience in Finance but I am looking for a guidance to get a break in Finance field. Any advice/suggestions.

@yash hedge funds love all that IT stuff, and with the CFA exams done you would make a good prospect.

@yash I think it is going to be tough for you, particularly in the current environment. However, getting a CV out there never fails to help. I know a few people in similar scenarios who started getting interviews just be putting their CVs highlighting qualification on efinancial careers. Secondly do you have much of a network you can leverage? Crucially do you know any headhunters, or have friends/colleagues who have a network of headhunters? These are just a few idle thoughts while I pause for breath in the office (procrastinate)!

Hi @Jwa thanks a lot for your inputs. Not much of a network to leverage. But have few friends who work for Barclays, Morgan Stanley, BNY Mellon and can help a bit to get my Resume to the right door. I am just wondering will my 7 yrs of Java software development experience go to complete waste and i will have to start from Zero as I don’t have any working experience (not even remotely related) in Finance?

@yash @MattyJ think what MattyJ here is very true, you will have skills that you can leverage which others will not have.
