Hi..I have observed that I score low marks particularly in Fixed Income (SS9 & 10) and Economics (SS6 & 7). Any suggestions to improvise on these..? I have read through the matter quite many times and each time I feel I am confident with the matter but when it comes to tests I make mistakes.

@AjFinance: yes 5 6hr mock papers..on my way to 6th with decreasing confidence.
@Diya: Formulae are memorized but just the methodology of solving is getting tricky sometimes or there are conceptual issues.

: I read through the refresher for L1 and 2. M considering solving all the EOC..within chapter examples for these sections again fron Kaplan..CFAI stuff confuses me even more..

Wow that’s a lot of papers you’ve done so early in the process. I think perhaps there’s still some fundamental lack of understanding here and you may need to look into proper revision before attempting your last mock paper – don’t waste it.

You may not have much hair left if you keep pulling them! :))

Then just keep practising, trying more questions, the more mistakes you make now (and learn from), hopefully it’ll be less in the exams

Wait, if CFAI stuff is confusing, don’t go back and do Kaplan questions…do the actual CFAI ones. Figure out what it is that’s confusing you in the CFAI stuff by doing the CFAI questions. If a particular question or concept is bugging you, ask about it here.

@sophie: I had completed EOC either after 1st reading or 2nd reading. I do understand that my response in not 100% correct…but there is no specific error..its more like some random errors that’s the reason I am unable to make sure where to start from. ~X( ~X(~X( ~X(~X( ~X(~X( ~X(~X( ~X(

@sankrutimehta I guess you need to just go through your summary notes (Secret Sauce if youre using it) with a calm mind. Its easier to not get to the root of the problem when we’re panicked, things become hazy. It happens to me quite often.
By full papers do you mean you have gone through 5 full 6 hour Practice exams?

Hi @sankrutimehta, you’ve already done well by knowing which areas you are weaker in.

Few questions: do you understand why you get them wrong in the test questions? Are you repeating them? If so, it means your understanding may not be complete. If not, it just means the materials are vast and you have to keep practising, discovering (+ understanding) why you got it wrong, then by definition it should improve over time – it’s what I call ‘patching the knowledge gap’.

Have you tried EOC questions of these sections?

if you are having problems with a particular section @sankrutimehta try approaching it from a different way such as memorizing the formulas. When I have was having trouble with the fixed income I used my white board to put up some key-concepts and formulas and I had it down within a week!

      Good luck and happy studying.

@padnaiki: what confuses me is their explanation and the way they have solved the sums. Plus I feel if I confuse myself now..would reduce my confidence considerably which is alreadu quite low :'(
