I am averaging about 70 in the cfa institute afternoon session mock exams.some people are saying that you need to average 75 to clear the exam.is it true?

It depends on your performance of the AM paper @peru969. 70 may be more than enough to sufficient to pass if your AM paper is strong too. That said, most of us tend to do better in PM paper than the essay one, so that's why they say that. Don't worry about it though. It's not as if you could target a specific score in exams, I trust you'll give it your best!
