Hello All, starting a masters program at the end of the month in the field of development. Would like to take the level 1 exam to help increase my chances of working with an asset management firm on sovereign wealth funds. Im yet to register for December exam as Im worried that I may not be able to complete the material before 15th November (I’m giving myself 2 weeks, as opposed to 4). I can manage 2 hours a day and full days on weekends, barring one or two day rests. Please be honest and let me know if Im deceiving myself with this time frame or if it can be done? I have Schweser notes already which I can start on right away. My background is in economics. Thanks guys

You’re not alone. I started studying in June, stopped for summer school and resumed in Late August. I have n’t gotten my books yet so I’ve been reading online. I do wish you all the best with what you decide to do!

I agree with @Maverick‌. It will be very tough, and every day you postpone this decision makes it exponentially so. However if you fail Dec it’s not the end of the world (you can still ‘catch up in June next year) so if you’re up for the pain, you could still give it a go.

        Holy cow @Gogs‌.
CFA and a masters concurrently??? With sub 3 months to go until the CFA L1 exam?

Snap, gut reaction buddy I’d say you are seriously pushing it to get through everything without either your CFA or masters study suffering, burning out, or ending totally confusing yourself between what’s CFA curriculum and whats masters curriculum in your memory.

I already wrote yesterday (https://300hours.com/f/cfa/level-1/t/help-2/) that with the time left;- 70 days +/- a couple, based on your desire to finish 2 weeks before the CFA exam, you’d need to average 4hrs 20mins a day to hit 300. You’ve also gotta fit your masters study in too.
Well, if you really like pressure, then I’m sure, it can be done. But are you putting too much on yourself? I’m half dead working, dealing with kids and then studying and that’s only doing the CFA.

Due to your mentioning that you have a background on economics, also see the notes I wrote to another 300 hours member here: https://300hours.com/f/cfa/level-1/t/covering-material-for-cfa1-dec-14/

Best of luck with whatever you choose!
        Mav
