Does working for an independent research provider count towards the work experience?

You would be doing all the good juicy stuff like economic analysis and building models but does it matter that your material will be directly used to help people at other employers make investment decisions?

As it is with these sort of things the extent to which your IRP is established would probably not make a difference? Say you were working for one of the top 5 IRPs?

        Many thanks in advance,

        Chris.

Yes your experience is super relevant Christ, no worries! CFA Institute it states “Your experience should involve evaluating or applying financial, economic, and/or statistical data as part of the investment decision-making process; supervising those who conduct; or teaching such activities.”

You are helping with the investment decision-making process, even indirectly. So that definitely is relevant and counts! Plus a major % of CFA charterholders are in research anyway, so that’s another data point.

Which firm you work in shouldn’t matter.
