Advice on Quarterly Review…

      Gotta do this with my manager soon on our internal company portal…it cant be just a written statement…i gotta pick department(s) and role (s) I see myself in and comment on each one as to why etc…

      Typically, the standard is to just pick one department and role, like, ‘Capital Markets’ and ‘Associate’ and then comment on that and what your going to do to get there. Its a drop down box of predetermined departments and roles and then a small comment section next to it… so if i pick more than one department and role, each one has to have its own separate comments attached to it…

      I am a level one candidate, and I’m interested in risk management/analysis, corporate finance, and commercial banking (lending to private/public companies between 1mm-100mm)…

      My current role is very client facing and i plan on doing something less client facing and more operations/support/project oriented… each of the above areas have their own department but i’m very open to exploring them as career paths…

      So I’m wondering how i can design my comments so they are streamlined and sort of don’t appear to be all over the place…. for example i shouldn’t pick ‘Compliance and Regulations’ and say this is my dream and goal etc and then also pick ‘Energy and Trading’ as my goal at the same time for the purposes of my quarterly review.

      So do you guys think the areas i mentioned like risk management/analysis, corporate finance, and commercial banking (lending to private/public companies between 1mm-100mm) are feasible to pursue simultaneously? If so, how would you design your comments so you can express yourself in a way that doesn’t cloud your intentions or goals? (each of the comments for the respective roles are written in separate boxes for each role so they aren’t connected in anyway)

      Thanks in advance hope i made sense

        Hmm looks like you have to do some sort of personal ranking there for that 3 roles and just go for it.

        @Reena‌ thanks for your response.
        Unfortunately there’s no rotational option so whatever I pick has to be what I intend to delve into and move forward with in the career path… those options are pretty distinct so I’ll have to really narrow it down to maybe 1/2 choices that might relate and go from there and build a good case about each one 😀

          Can you not put those 3 sections in as mention you are keen to explore a rotation for that 3 department? Then you can comment and write in each section what you like about them and want to try a few projects to be able to narrow down your focus?

          Those 3 sections are quite distinct and rarely come together in a job role, as you probably know. If your company is open for say a 3 month rotation in each department I’d say go for it.
