in reply to: Question from ethics #80865Up::5
It says the should not that they must… I think that about clears it up. A is correct because the CFA is simply providing a recommendation not a hard rule.
in reply to: Your D-Day stories (horror, funny, inspiring)…. #81403Up::5To add to it the guy sitting next to me finished the AM session in under and hour! Either that guy is a genius or just admitted defeat.
Up::5Like everyone is saying I wouldn’t worry about scores until the final month. Also its important to realize that a ton more information is going to be thrown at you as you progress. Develop a plan of attack and don’t get discouraged when you score in the 60’s on your first full practice test
in reply to: I am a CPA… Few concerns about the CFA #80009Up::4Well I’ll start with a full discloser here and say that I am currently only a CFA level 1 candidate so more established individuals may disagree with me. I also don’t really believe in technical analysis. If you are looking for a technical investing guide than the CFA is not going to provide you the information you want in my opinion. CFA level 1 only briefly covers the information and due to the belief that technical investing is a bit of a crapshoot to begin with the content kinda brushes it under the rug. If you are interested in understanding fundamental firm analysis than the CFA is great! As I said though I am only a level 1 candidate and think that technical analysis provides about the same good investing advice as a Ouija board so I am biased. Best of luck!
Up::4My plan is to tackle three Schweser tests then take a CFAI. I’m going to repeat this process twice. Figure its better to end with a CFAI tests so I am used to the wording.
in reply to: Here’s When You Should Start Your CFA Exam Studies #80866in reply to: How did it go? #81434Up::4I feel like I could go either way. There were a ton of questions that I felt were very easy however I can’t get the questions that I got wrong out of my head. If I fail this round I’ll be out for blood in June.
in reply to: Question of the Week – IRR and NPV #79456in reply to: Math course before starting CFA #80870Up::3Formulas for CFA1 aren’t that bad (I’m taking it in Dec). That being said, to answer your question… I took Calc and some upper level stats courses. I majored in econ graduated in May 2014 so some other math classes were scattered in there.
in reply to: Auto pilot during the exam #81423Up::3Yeah that’s how I felt. It honestly doesn’t even feel like I took a majority of the exam. The only things I really recall from it were the problems I had issues on (around 20is) and the fact that I ran out of time for 5-7 problems on the 2nd section and had to fill in the bubbles randomly 🙁
in reply to: Question of the Week – Economics (inflation) #79502Up::2I agree with farlo, inflation will aid fixed rate borrowers due to their interest rate being lock in at a particular point. Think of it as the borrower paying back the lender with devalued dollars. For part two inflation will again result in a payment of devalued dollars for after-tax ROI thus the percent return for ROI must increase in order to combat the weaker currency.
in reply to: How old are our CFA Charterholders / Wannabes? #80855Up::2I’d assume the older group would have a harder time. I’m fresh out of school so studying isn’t anything new and I don’t have to worry about family obligations. Regardless its all about putting in work.
in reply to: Question of the Week – Corporate Finance #81290Up::2This question is kinda rigged because its also important that board members and management have the ability to meet independently…
in reply to: Almost there L1’ers #81320Up::2Howdy Maverick what program are you using for your practice test? I’m trying to gauge my scores with other people on this forum.
in reply to: Which topic did you find the hardest in Level 1? #81322Up::2FRandA puts me to bed but as far a difficulty I’m gonna say derivatives mostly because I can’t justify memorizing those equations for the sake of 5%. I score middle band in that area at best.
in reply to: Almost there L1’ers #81334Up::2Yeah I’ve been really surprised with the differences between the practice tests. Ethics has historically been one of my strongest areas but this particular practice test is taking me to school. I found that EOC questions were far easier than the practice exam questions. I’m really sorry that you had an event happen that prevented you from sticking to your schedule. Pressure makes diamonds though I’m sure that you’ll come out on top. Best of luck. Hit me up if you have any questions.
Best,

If you plug it in to the CAPM equation you get 13.1 since that’s an option for your multiple choice and your inputs are correct you’ve got the answer.
