      Hello,
After not making it through the 2013 Level-2 exam, I’m re-registering for 2014 exam. After selecting the exam center, I am led to a webpage (on http://www.cfainstitute.org) which says that I can access the e-book after completing the registration and the print book will be available for purchase separately at a later date. Is everyone else too getting this message? Since I prefer preparing using print books, should I wait before the print books are available at the time of registration? Please advise.

      Thank you

Should probably wait then. As long as you don’t miss the first deadline (see all key deadlines here) you should be fine.

Thanks a ton, @zee. I wouldn’t be starting an intense preparation. I was just planning to start making notes for some of the areas which I lost marks/points in the 2013 exam. Just an initial light read-up. May be make a formula sheet for the FRA and Quant areas.

I was wondering if the books would undergo a significant change in their content. Can I start my preparation instead of waiting till completion of registration?

If you already have the print curriculum books for 2013, I’d say there is no need to get the books again, just make sure you keep on top of syllabus changes and errata. The main thing is to practice the parts that you think you need to improve in (in addition to all the other parts of the syllabus).

You should be safe for now – Ethics etc are unlikely to have significant changes. If you’re keen on starting right now (which may not be wise, you’ll risk burning out waaay early), you should be fine with existing materials.
