I have done a 2010 Mock Exam today and came across at least 30 or 40 questions that were definitely NOT covered in the 2013 CFA Institute books. I thought I could just practice with any Mock exam from any year but it seems to me like the 2010 books covered different things. That would explain why my friend (who has passed all 3 levels) told me he didn’t recognize many of the flash cards I have made from the 2013 CFA Institute books…
Am I wrong about all this? -

The CFA institute changes the readings. However I don’t know to what extend.

@cfalevel1candidate – the exams will definitely only cover topics brought up in the 2013 curriculum. The CFA curriculum changes every year so there would be quite a few differences between the 2010 and 2013 exam, so it’s not surprising (nor something to worry about) that you weren’t familiar with the 2010 mock exam questions.
I’m assuming you’ve found the 2013 mock exam to try out. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Well, it definitely does since I have read all the (2013) books and gone back over every single one of them 2 times and done most of the exercises for each, and done more than 400 Flash cards… When I took the 2010 Mock Exam today I there were at least 30 questions that are absolutely not covered in the 2013 books. I really hope that the CFA Level I exam on Saturday will only be on the 2013 books. Otherwise that could be a very good reason why there are only 30% who manage to get it each time…
Does anyone know where I can find 2013 Mock Exams?

I’ll be able to answer this question tomorrow when I’ll be done with the 2013 Mock Exam. Something tells me I won’t find any, or almost, any questions that isn’t covered in the 2013 books.
It does makes sense when you think about it that the CFA would change its books and thus the material needed for the exam: That way they can sell more books and make more money!
If they stay with the exact same books, what would be the point for all of us to buy them? We could just borrow one of our friend’s books who took it 2,3 years ago…
I’m glad I picked that up very quickly. You have no idea how frustrated I was this afternoon whilst doing the 2010 and having no idea what certain questions were talking about… -

I got a 65%… Made a lot of stupid errors, but I will learn from them… I will also learn those got wrong… I don’t recall reading any questions that I didn’t see in the readings so maybe at the most 5 were obscure…
Does anyone know where I can find additional 2013 Mock Exams for Level I? I really want to do at least one more before Saturday…
@cfalevel1candidate only way to get more CFAI mocks would be to buy from them directly. They’re fairly expensive though. -

If you have no other way getting some, there are 2 60-Question Mocks from the institute you can take online at 40$ each.

Well this question leads well into my question – I’ve been waiting on my passport to be delivered to my house, but in the mean time I’ve been studying/reading the material my friend used while studying for his June 2013 Level 1 Exam.
Should I continue to use the material I’ve been using, or wait until I receive my June 2014 Level 1 information?
I’m using his CFAI stuff and some Schweser info until I’m all registered in a couple weeks.

@CFAlevel1candidate Just relax on the lastday. Do a light readings on summaries or review mistakes of mock. Relax, Eat, Sleep.
