I am a 2020 Dec deferral candidate. Earlier prior to 13th May, I only got options to schedule to August and Nov. (India). Now I’m getting the option to register for Feb 2022 as well. It says on the top of the registration page that postponed candidates will see a 0US$ at checkout (since we already paid in 2020). Will I be offered all windows in 2022 like Feb free of charge, or my free of charge deferral is valid only till Nov 2021?
Please guide – I’m not able to get CFA Institute on phone or email to confirm this.

I got an email from CFAI confirming that the option to defer from Dec 2020 is only valid for 2021 registrations and not for 2022.

Hi @anishgupta18, I’ve moved your question to its own topic as it is a separate question.
Based on what has happened with deferrals so far, anything could happen since all of this are Covid ad-hoc arrangements by CFA Institute, so proceed at your own risk.
Unfortunately I don’t have any confirmation that Dec 2020 deferred candidates would be able to schedule for Feb 2022, so unless CFA Institute confirms it, they’re not obliged to do it for you.
Can you reply with a screenshot showing the “postponed candidates will see $0” message? Which page does this show up for you?

Hi Zee,
The prompt above on the page says for all upcoming exams, however when I tried registering for Feb 2022 it is charging full price. Therefore I don’t think its happening

My CFA L1 May 2021 got suspended and I received a mail asking me to re register but upon registering for the Nov 2021 its showing a cost of 250 dollars

$250 seems to be the rescheduling fee which should not be applied.
CFA Institute should have given you specific instructions on how to re-register for Nov 2021. In the past, this involved withdrawing from your current (i.e. May 2021) CFA exam and registering as a new candidate for your new (Nov 2021) exam.
I would have a good look at your CFA Institute email and check that you’re following the steps exactly. If there are still issues, email CFA Institute (info@cfainstitute.org).
Good luck – let us know how it turns out!

Hi anishgupta… I think, then what you can do is, opt for a refund (of your old registration charges) and then register for Feb-22 within the early bird deadline – that way you might end up in a profit also (if your earlier registration fees were in the late window/higher than the current Feb-22’s early window charges). I think this might be the best way, I guess…

Hi anish, did u get a refund mail option from cfa as below?
“Viraj Vinayak,
As a candidate whose CFA exam has been impacted twice by COVID restrictions/test center closures, CFA Institute has extended you the opportunity to register for a 2021 computer-based exam at no cost. To select this option, go to your account to select a new exam. Please note, due to limited exam appointments in some areas, your complimentary registration may not apply to some exam windows. Your account will reflect the exam windows that are available to you at no cost.
If you prefer, you have the option to request a refund for the fees you paid with your original exam registration. The refund request window is open from 9:00am ET on 7 June to 11:59pm ET on 21 June. Click here to complete the form to submit your request. You must complete and submit this form during the refund request window to qualify for a refund. After we receive your request, we will send you additional instructions to the email address you provide.
It has been a challenging year and we appreciate your patience. Wishing you and your family good health in the coming year.
CFA Institute”

If you’re just a December 2020 postponed candidate, you won’t be eligible for a refund.
Are you still being quoted full price for Feb 2022?
