Hi all,
Time flies and it’s been nearly 1.5 years since I started writing for 300Hours!As we near to year end, and naturally we put our little thinking hat on, self-reflecting on how the year went by.
We wondered what you think about 300 Hours, and more importantly, if you have suggestions for areas of improvement, and how we can help you better, whether it’s for CFA studies, job search and interview preparations.
We created this community for CFA candidates by CFA charterholders, because when we took our exams back in the days, we didn’t know a thing nor found a community that was helpful and taught us what to expect. We strive to do better every day and you’re what keeps us going! So yes, it’s time for constructive feedback 🙂

Thanks for the reminder @edulima, 5-6 months is a good time then, I did it with 5 if memory serves me right (signs of old age).
I absolutely agree with you on the tradeoffs, but a guideline is useful as well as candidates can tend to get confused in such assessment. So it’s a ballpark study plan really which one has to adjust according to your own schedule and ability. Personally I’d go shorter, 6 months of full on study can be quite draining and you wouldn’t want to be drained in the last month of practice exams where you learn the most.

I only wish that I had heard about it before I took CFA level 1.
Make sure you spread the word then @Dr_Pain28! 😉

@Sophie, note that Jan to June is more like 5 months, not 6 (especially given that the exam is on June 7 next year).
In any case, there’s always a trade-off between (A) starting early enough and running the risk of forgetting stuff and/or burning out versus (B) starting a bit too late and missing valuable review time at the end or having to rush through material to avoid that. This makes for every decision being very personal; the key is to have a good understanding of (1) your strengths and weaknesses, (2) your time constraints and your physical limits, (3) what kind of exam you are getting up against. Then you (and only you) can make the right decision for yourself.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt to learn about other people’s experiences to see what is possible (e.g. @Sophie’s feat) and some examples of less successful undertakings. For those, this forum is a real asset!

I’ve been thrilled with the site since I came across it. I only wish that I had heard about it before I took CFA level 1. I am looking forward to being a part of the community when ‘Busy Season’ begins come January. Keep up it up!

I for one can tell you that I’m thrilled I found this site. I literally started studying for L1 last night so this is perfect timing. I’m still exploring everything here but, from a newbie perspective, you guys are doing awesome!
