You need basic algebra solving for x on the opposite side of an equal sign nothing more than division, multiplication, square root, and exponent. You won’t always use it but it’ll be easier for you to know these things.
Up::4All good now! Got 2014 Material, Practice Exams, and Qbank…. Feel like I have more than enough to practice, especially since my plan is to finish 6 weeks early.
Up::4@diceboy5000 One study session a day is outrageous if you ask me. Some you can probobaly do in a day, like SS6, SS7 and SS10, but if you finish it in a day, you have to make sure you understand it. If you understand it in a day, I usually move on to the more thicker SS, ex. I am doing SS8 and SS9 a week in advance to give me time to review & answer a lot of FRA questions, etc.
What I do:
I am student as well.
I do about a study session a week, one reading a day. After I finish a reading I do EOC questions from CFA and Schweser then go back and review. By then, I understand all the things I didn’t understand, i’m assuming lol. That being said, it takes roughly 3-4 hours a reading with all the questions and what not (some are shorter than others, which i love). But i do go back a lot, ex. I am going over/reviewing the first 4 topics after I finish FRA (study session 10, haflway through). Note a lot of this material thus far is on repeat for me, just a little more in detail (mind you I have forgotten almost all of it). Hope this helps!
in reply to: My Strategy for Level 2, give me guidance! #80877Up::4@Sophie‌ the plan is shooting for 1.5-2 hours during the weekday so that should increase my leniency a bit. I get home from work anytime between 6:30-7:30 so I should manage an at least an 1.5 hours a weeknight. I have been excited for level 2 since I started level 1, so I hope with that mind set I will be over studying rather than barely making the cut :).
Up::3@Ethuriel‌ I did 6 schweser and 2 mock exams, EOC from CFA and schweser EOC. If you are scoring a 75% + as did I, I don’t see how you are in a different boat than where I was. I failed FRA and PM, but on my practice tests I scored 72-82 %. The test was easier on ethics harder on econ FRA and fixed income. Everything else about the same, in my opinion. Do what you need to do and you will be fine. Just don’t underestimate the difficulty. I hope this helps and good luck.
in reply to: 300 Hours’ Rough Guide to a Solid CFA Study Plan #77007Up::2Hi,
I am a student graduating in May 2014, hoping the CFA will get me some knowledge & analyst interviews. I read all these posts on 300 hours, and this website is really helpful. However, I am anxious and worried (that I won’t be able to accomplish/doing something wrong/wasting my time, which seems to be normal). I have been studying since the last week of December for the June Level I exam. My plan is and has been reading the Schweser notes, doing the EOC questions for schweser and doing EOC of the CFA I Curriculum (about a study session a week, roughly 15 hours). I plan on finishing about 6 weeks before the exam to review, take my practice exams & CFA mock exam, and review my weaknesses to be ready for exam day. Throughout my studying, I plan on going back to do/review the EOC questions and skimming/reading the summaries of Schweser and the CFA Curriculum. I think this plan is pretty solid, and I am curious if there is anything else I am leaving out or missing. I notice it is a little different from this post. Please fill me in and let me know. Thanks!
Up::2cool! Thanks everyone! i’ll see how it’s looking mid december when I start! fyi, I will be reading the curriculum
in reply to: Need some equity help on Reading 33 #80876Up::2Haven’t started studying yet. Based on algebra, it does look right. for #2 not sure what you are asking, what exactly are you lost on?
Up::1@taco_enthusiast No, not at all;however, fixed income you are. That is the only difference between 2013 and 2014. Elan i think provides differences. Anyway, I have both 2013 (books) and 2014 (pdf). Everything is identical concept wise, except for fixed income. Practice exams are new though, which will help. I got my 2014 pdf (with practice exams) version off ebay for $30… it was a solid deal. If you don’t want to do that, you can always use the CFA readings!
in reply to: SS9 – Income Taxes #77519in reply to: My Strategy for Level 2, give me guidance! #80776Up::1@WesMantooth‌ @fabian‌ Thanks for your input! I am definitely willing to adjust, and If I have to switch over to schweser because of the volume of the text I’m okay with that as well. I majored in finance so I’m hoping nothing is too abstract for me.
@ommthree‌ The reason is because I’m taking calculus 2 and linear algebra classes at a community college to build my pre-requisites for graduate programs in either finance, economics, or quant finance. I am a nerd and love learning 🙂
