Up7I also agree with the solution and arrived at the answer b. The convertible preferred shares are anti-dilutive because (450,000+250,000)/(100,000+250,000)=2 which is the same as the EPS of (450,000-250,000)/100,000=2.
Therefore to calculate the dilutive EPS=(450,000-250,000)/(100,000+60,000)=1.25
(100,000×10)/25=40,000 so that means the net dilutive impact of the stock option is 100,000-40,000 (that the company was able to reduce by buying back share in the open market due the the funds received.)

Up6@fabian I think it is normal to feel depressed at this stage of the game. We are all slowly starting to do the practice exam and realizing that we don’t know as much as we though we knew…
I don’t think 200 mins is too bad since you still have 6 weeks to shave off 2 min her vignettes but also if you are spending as much time as you are panicking shaving off 20 min overall shouldn’t be that hard after our erratic emotions are under control.
Are there particular sections that are taking up a lot of time? Averages are misleading – if there are particular section that you are scoring low on (and taking lots of time on probably) re-read that section you might just be simply spending too much time thinking…
Up5@TacheMan that will remain secret forever! lol I think I hit the middle category for fixed income. I don’t recommend doing what I did. I studied for a total of 8 weeks full time but I disappeared from reality for that time. No fb, no friends, no partying, everything was CFA related.

Up5@AjFinance My favorite author for finance is Michael Lewis, he is pretty famous. I liked Liar’s Poker and Boomerang (even my 15 year old sister enjoyed Boomerang). I also like Quants and The Intelligent Investor and Security Analysis (books Warren Buffett is also fond of). If you are interested in behavioural economics/finance I recommend Dan Ariely’s books and if you have time Superfreakonomics and freakonomics. If you lack time freakonomics also has a movie and it follows the book closely.

Up5@AjFinance The second I see self-help book I am turned off. But since you are recommending it, l will look for a copy and give it a try. It sounds a lot like “Thinking, fast and slow” but that book uses a lot of technical terminology and hence is a slow read T.T
Right now I am reading This is your Brain on Music. Since I like music and I believe that to be a good portfolio manager I have to understand what makes people tick~Up5@christine they have hardcore reading that is recommended for the course but you do get a signed certificate from Dan Ariely. I’d like one, I might even consider putting it up on the wall (my bachelor degree is gathering dust in one of my drawers).
Up5I’d be annoyed if they offered level 2 and 3 twice a year. I don’t think I could clear all the levels back to back in one go.
