Up::4
I am Sam from Wisconsin, USA. Failed L2 in 2006 and then gave it up since it didnt directly help with my job, and we had our second kid at that time. Took up an investment job recently so decided to retake L2. Luckily CFA Institute gives credit for L1 that I passed in 2005. Plan to study using Kaplan Schweser primarily.
in reply to: Anyone using just the CFAI curriculum? #83072Up::3Thanks everyone for your inputs. I will go ahead with the curriculum as my primary sources and notes from third party providers as back up.

in reply to: Anyone using just the CFAI curriculum? #83075Up::2I am thinking that if I start now, reading the curriculum atleast once should be possible. Moreover, the Schweser note will not be available for another few weeks. That said, I fully expect to go to the notes for some of the more dry topics where more concise material might be better from a learning perspective.
in reply to: When is the right time to start studying for L2? #83025in reply to: CFA for career changers? #83049Up::1I recommend investing in an MBA if you don’t have prior finance/investments experience. Its easier to get your foot in the door for finance jobs especially if you graduate from a good b-school. You can always get your CFA charter later if it seems valuable then.
in reply to: Job Profile #83059Up::1Are you looking for a career in I-banking or I-research/portfolio management? CFA may not help as much with I-Banking, since its mostly deal making/marketing/business development. MBA might be a better option for you.
