Does a technical underwriter qualify as good CFA experience??

Up1Hii, I’m planning to take the CFA lvl 1 next year 2015, so i believe I have much time. I’m not planning to register until I feel I have covered a significant part of the curriculum. I still not sure what is the best source of material to study from.I’ve downloaded the curriculum for 2013 and Schweser notes 2013. should I study both ? or is the one of them sufficient ? I know I have to buy the new version of material, but I will use this one till I feel ready.

Sorry for the very late reply….I have been off for a while. Also I was still starting this insurance technician job so couldn’t answer fully your question about my role.
I work for and Insurance consultancy & Brokerage firm. My role involves:
-Insurance claims handling.
-Supporting & solving any of clients’ issues. (problem Solving)
-Reviewing medical insurance consumption for clients prepared by guarantors and making sure its accurate.
-Meeting with clients to understand their insurance requirements, analyzing the risks then quoting with guarantors to cover this risk.
-Reviewing quotations & offers received from guarantors and negotiating better coverage and premiums.
-I also train and supervise a new employee to do these tasks.

I decided to study from the material, I feel more comfortable knowing that nothing will be left behind.Up0Hi everyone. Motaz I am reinsurance underwriter from Egypt .started studying the material for lvl 1, still didn’t register for the exam. Looking for help from pros people who went through this painful process…I believe this website is just this place. Great website.
I’m still not sure whether my work experience as an “reinsurance underwriter” qualifies for the CFAI. Can anyone shed some light here please.
