Level 2 was an absolute killer for me in that respect. I remember doing one of the CFA mocks the weekend before the exam and absolutely bombing it…I got so angry that I hurled the pen and paper across the meeting room I was in at work and almost broke the white boa on the wall.
I almost burst into tears at that point.
Just remember that if your working hard and finding it tough, others will be too and my general thoughts are that if you work harder than everyone else then your be at the high end of the grad curve, wherever that turns out to be!
in reply to: How to tackle IPS questions ?? #69473in reply to: Photography? #70443Up::5In Asia there are roughly 107 men per 100 women.
In Europe there are roughly 107 women per 100 men.I only looked these numbers up as I wanted to be factually correct when making a crude joke about men liking breasts, but actually it’s the other way round! Maybe it’s the male primitive behaviour of eating meat from the bone, wheras women are more delicate and prefer lean meat?!? And what does that make me if I prefer chicken breast over thigh?!
in reply to: Apparently I just moved up to Level 2?!? #68120in reply to: How important is FRA to Level 2? #68205Up::5@tim it is when you think about it. All your trying to do is work out how much you will owe at a future date, what its present value is, and how this changes under different assumptions. One you know this you then just need to compare it to the assets the fund owns to see where you currently stand.
There aren’t that many formulas to learn for it.
in reply to: I want to play a game… #68207Up::5Venture Capital: alternative asset class whereby investment is injected into startup companies. Considered risky due to high chance of failure of the underlying business.
in reply to: The resale value of my BA II Plus calculator #68306Up::5There’s no way I could sell mine after so much blood, sweat and tears has been shared between us! Plus after 3 years I can’t remember how to use my Sharp EL-531LH
in reply to: The resale value of my BA II Plus calculator #68315Up::5I wonder what the price of a forward on a Professional would be for delivery in 3 months time 🙂
:(( @christine maybe we should test the durability of ours by throwing it off a tall building!
That could be a nice bonus section of the 300 hours site! I’m sure people would want to know how their calculator would be affected if it was run over by a car/dropped from a tall building/thrown down some stairs on the way to the exam!
in reply to: The resale value of my BA II Plus calculator #68323Up::5Also what am I suppose to do with 18 volume of the CFA curriculum (when I get to level 3).
Quasi-coffee table?
I have all my volumes lined up on a bookshelf, just so I look intelligent when people come by and they can see what I had to go through. I obviously don’t mention I never read them and relied on Scweser!
in reply to: Level 3 Candidates #68447Up::5I would put money on the majority of people currently on this forum passing the exam. Just by the fact that they are on here is an indicator to me that they are working hard!
Up::5Yeah I know, if you can take a calculator in, why on earth wouldn’t you?
As Jack Churchill would say, “any candidate who goes into action without his BAII Plus Professional is improperly armed.”
in reply to: Finance related TV Shows #68559Up::5I’m watching a show called White Collar. Not directly finance, but based around solving white collar crimes so it still counts 🙂
in reply to: Do you see yourself retiring in the future? #68580in reply to: CFA Level I Study Packages #68702Up::5It’s kind of implemented already. Waiting for someone to discover how to request it… 😀 😀 😀
Challenge Accepted.
in reply to: I think they gave me the wrong room… #69156Up::5I worked out what’s wrong with this room…the DLR appears to be going past my window every 3 minutes…
in reply to: You passed Level 1. What do you wish you knew? #69466Up::5Is it true also that for some people the exams will be reversed? As in some people get part “one” in the morning session and some get part “one” in the afternoon? So not everybody is writing the same thing at the same time technically speaking?
No chance. They would have to print different papers, and there would be a massive risk that people could collude to tip each other off as to what was in the other half of the exam!
