in reply to: Today (Dec 1, ’14) is Day 1 of June ’15 Prep #81490Up::4Hey John, I was just looking through your study plan and using it to make my own one. I noticed the slightly orange shaded boxes in Excel. Is that for topics that will not take the whole week and therefore you have those days for other work/how you see fit?
Up::3Great article and a massive help but I feel as though some of the Classical Music songs on the playlist go against requirement no. 3 with the changes in volume and pitch.
in reply to: Materials needed for study #81228Up::1Hey FEA, thanks for the reply! Okay I’ll get my Fitch materials in January so will check what I get there. I signed up for what I think is the most extensive package as my work paid for it haha so hopefully I do get that. Yeah I guess part of me thought I needed as much material as I could get my hands on, while part of me knows I need to make sure my study plan and strategy is more important.
I downloaded the study plan from this website so will try that as a base to figure out a strategy. If you have any recommendations for a way to tackle the curriculum I would appreciate it.
in reply to: CFA Study Guide vs. Schweser, or both? #81511Up::1Hi I’m in the same boat to an extent in that I have the CFA books as well as the Schweser material too. What I have gleaned from reading a couple of books before starting is that the Schweser material is good enough to pass from as they cover the content sufficiently. However, for Ethics, it is perhaps more useful to focus on the CFAI books as Ethics is quite an important topic and can have an impact on your final result if you are borderline. As it carries such importance, it makes more sense to study the topic straight from the CFAI book and then use the Schweser book to look at it from another angle if you are struggling. For Ethics on Level 1, the real world examples are not as useful as you may think but as you have been studying for a couple of months now it won’t hurt having covered them. That is a personal opinion though.
That is what my approach will be for now regarding Ethics but for the other topics I will use the Schweser books and then use the CFAI books if I need another angle and for the additional questions.
