in reply to: Usefulness of CFA mock exam vs. Schweser mocks?!! #69350Up::6IMO, CFA mocks represents how the paper setting style gonna be like, in terms of the framing of questions, language used, etc. whereas schweser mocks are cocktail of every type of questions which can be asked in the exam (which doesn’t really mean that schweser mocks are better, is just that it puts you through rigorous twists and turns in questions). But at the end,never under estimate the god (CFA INSTITUTE), because they do tend to throw scariest googly one can ever face in the battlefield (exam). So without comparing, solve both mocks and schwesers mocks as much as you can. And try to keep consistency in the marks you get, and do check sectionaly too if you faring well or not.
in reply to: Discovering Badges #67901Up::5@imdnextbuffet Points are an indication of how involved you’ve been in the forum. We’re thinking of reward tiers for points (e.g. get XXX when you reach YYY points) but yet to decide on something concrete.
What we have decided is to give away prizes to the top 3 weekly leaders every week until the June exam 🙂
Oh really? then I see myself on top of weekly ladder, what do I get bro? 😉
in reply to: There should be a Level 2 and 3 in December too. #67911Up::5That’s a really good point @imdnextbuffet – at L2 you’re ‘hooked’.
I know, its just that I talk and convince myself too much in many topics by myself, when I had this same question, this is what I came up with.

@Zee @Sophie those were still the most credibly built phones. Even considered as weapons at some point in time :))Up::5Purely because I’m in love with Japanese food. And it’s a beautiful country (except some occasional tsunami and earth quakes!)
yakitori, kushikatsu 😀

haha @sidmenon lesson learned
Up::5@sophie I kind of agree with you on the point that its all about how you. Sell yourself in interviews. I shall check those links soon, as I’m in the process to find a new job.
Well about the qualifications part, I can tell you from my personal opinions and generally, specifically the situation in india is such that people (employers) over here place more emphasise on the degrees or qualifications you have. There are People over here who are god damn engineers with MBA’s from B schools and then they do CFA which I find it so odd. Then there are my some friends who are one of top rankers in CA and still they studied actuaries. Way I could make out from this was, employers over here see what you got rather than the experience you have in the particular job, am not saying experience is not counted at all but qualifications take upper hand I guess.
Up::5Hey @hairyfairy, i think you’ve gotten it wrong about @imdnextbuffet. He’s a level 2 candidate if i’m not wrong.
true that. Level 2 in JUNE 14. Learning mandarin in meantime, catching up novels 😀
FRM part 1 Nov 13.
Up::4Hi all. I cleared level 1 in Dec 12. Thought to give sometime for myself so giving level 2 in June 14, in between plunging into reading loads of novels(my interest) & FRM as I dont have MBA after bachelors, so thought to have CFA&FRM as degrees. Working as research analyst since 2+ years.
in reply to: What is your reading method of choice? #67759in reply to: Liar’s Poker – Michael Lewis #67830in reply to: What is your reading method of choice? #67860Up::4@imdnextbuffet I read somewhere on the internet, there are people who have an MBA from Ivy league B Schools find it difficult to clear the CFA exams. There are some who even drop out. It also mentioned that maybe its partly due to the fact that they tend to discount the difficulty level of the exam.
That’s exactly what I meant. Even an average guy can clear the examinations all at one go, if he/she keeps himself grounded, has a solid plan in first place and sticks to it till he/she dies.
