Realized I left out the jobs I’m applying for, kind of important detail isn’t it! I’m applying for i-banking positions and brokerages. I’m an economics graduate but joined the family business on graduating (shipping). But I’m hoping there are some transferrable skills.
I did put it in my CFA status on my resume and in the one interview I’ve had so far the interviewer did bring it up from reading my resume, so that worked.

For Level 1, I managed to get just under 21.5 hrs/wk (I was going to school last year, which gave me enough free time). Overall, my study time totaled 410 hours. Thankfully, I passed, however, I sacrificed time that I could have used for job hunting.I think the 6-hour session thing really varies from person to person. My roommate and I are both taking the CFA exam, and I can’t go for any longer than 2-3 hours, but he basically grinds it out from morning till evening during weekends, stopping only to eat some pizza. It’s unnerving.
in reply to: Practice exams recommendations? #84839Up::4Thanks! halfway through vol 2 and I think either way it would be enough until the exam, but I don’t think the quality is as good as vol1.

in reply to: I’m so good at DCF… #85329in reply to: Navigating the job hunt with a CFA charter #84796Up::3It’ll be hard to comment unless we know in more detail what your experience is. Although in a small market some experience could be highly transferable.
Are you looking for a larger foreign institution in Bulgaria or another country?
Up::3For the most part there is a lot of crap floating around CFA whatsapp groups. It’s hard to follow unless you’re on it all the time. There’s quite a lot of filesharing requests as well. Your mileage may vary, but my recommendation is to join one, but not participate actively unless you have a specific question to ask.
in reply to: Anyone know when CFA L1 results come out? #84885in reply to: Udemy CFA Courses #85019Up::2Just had a look through most of the CFA courses on Udemy after the black friday sale. for the most part they are utter crap. there are some helpful videos here and there, but not worth the time to view them all to benefit from them.

Maybe someone can help if we see the process you are using.I was just more commenting that I’m probably somehow entering in numbers wrongly into my calc. Each time. Ah well. Thanks for trying to help though!
in reply to: Best study material for CFA L2 #85460Up::2mjgavilanes said:retaking level 2. what’s the best material Schwesser and Wiley?I was planning on going for Schweser, worked well for me in L1 but @ellieb19 is giving me doubts! Are there any differences in L2 that may call for a different provider? Schweser has a discount right now I think, so would want to decide soon.
in reply to: Has CFA helped your career? #85488Up::2My take: hard to tell, but probably yes.
I’m L2 at the moment and have put my candidacy in my CV. Am getting interviews and mentioning it in interviews, but is it helping? No idea. But I think it is a good extra to have and I would have less to talk about in an interview otherwise. Not just about the qualification itself, I also use knowledge learnt from the program in interviews and case studies.
in reply to: When to start mock exams? #84757Up::1Jumping in on this topic: when is the latest that is recommended that we should start mock exams? It’s taking a bit longer than expected for me to finish up. I’m still stuck in Equity and not touched at least half the topics…
in reply to: CFA Level I (Dec 2019) – New York (Metro) #85092Up::0There is a group that does CFA exams as well as other finance topics: https://www.meetup.com/nycfinance/
Looking for a venue though so any suggestions welcome.
Up::0Didn’t know GIPS is a popular skipping topic! I think I’ll leave GIPS until the absolute last minute and give it a good read 1-2 days before the actual exam. Might get lucky for those 1-2 questions!
