Yes, it’s the CFAI level 2-book 1. Thank you so much for the help guys! Fabian’s and Reena’s posts are all I need for the exam!! You guys are amazing!
Up::4Thanks, Sophie! This post might actually change my study plan. I was planning to re-do EOC questions, and do Schwesser “Self tests” and “concept checkers” for the next 2 weeks and do mock exams in the 2nd last week before CFA (week of May 20). The last week is kind of my final review week. What’s your take on this? Is it better to spread the mock exams over the next month, or can we just do them in the final 2 weeks before the exam?
in reply to: A Day in the Life of an Investment Banking Analyst #73847in reply to: A Day in the Life of an Investment Banking Analyst #73858Up::4@sophie – I’m in the Audit & Assurance Group at one of the big 4. I love what I do, but I’m considering moving to finance.. I’m still not sure whether to do research or corp. finance (M&A, IPO, etc).. Is it true that they have high turnover rate there?
Up::4I allocated 2 weeks for mock exams and basically just did 1 mock exam a day. I felt like I learned the most during this 2 weeks; by the end of the first week, I was very comfortable with the calculation questions.. To be honest, I think the mocks are the ones that got me through level 2..
About the skipping style, I can skip questions as long as it’s in 1 vignette.. but, once I’m done with that vignette, I would have answered all 6 questions (guessing or otherwise).. Then, move on to the next vignette, and don’t look back..
Best of luck next year!!
in reply to: First of Many Practice Exams #72177Up::3@vincentt you’re right, I gotta be careful answering with just reading a portion of the vignette. Actually, in this practice exam, there was a short sentence at the end of one vignette that said “XYZ believes beta is mean reverting”. well, you know how it impacts your factor models.
@Diya what a good point! I never realized that. I just found out that in 1 vignette i would do great and the a few others I would got only 2-3 out of 6! Good way to find out which topic to re-study. And, I think it emphasize how important each question is in Level 2. And, that’s probably why there isn’t as much time constraint? I feel that too, I finished mine in about 2 hours.. considering 30mins to circle those things, I still had a lot of time.
@Sophie thanks for the links. But, after 6 schwesser practice exams and 1 mock CFA exam…. Maan, I hate May 2013..
Up::3I’d love to help! I’ll PM you later @Zee! I work in audit, I can tell @Lagarta is another accountant/auditor. :-h
Up::2@zee, yea I actually had a lot of time for 1mock/day because I took the last 2 weeks off… I even had time enjoying the sun (it’s rare here in Canada, haha)..
in reply to: Any sections people are taking chances on? #70871Up::1I made a ‘priority list’ for the required readings and April 29 deadline to start the practice questions. So, whatever I don’t get done by April 29, I’m diving straight to practice questions.. At this rate, I think I might skim through ethics and the last part of accounting (i’m relying on my accounting background, so I put accounting 2nd from the last on my priority list) and just rely on my practice questions/exams..
in reply to: A Day in the Life of an Investment Banking Analyst #73863Up::1@Sophie – Well, I did a research report for a company back in my 4th year univ, and I kinda enjoyed it.. Sorry I have lots of questions, but where is the best city to have an IB career? I can’t choose between NY or London.. I’m in Canada now, and there aren’t many IB positions here..
in reply to: Study Plan #76757Up::1Thanks @Sophie. I’m pretty confident about the item set questions and it’s good to know that the same strategy works for lv 3 too. Summarizing concepts seems would help with the essay questions..
