Got this article claiming otherwise.

Investopedia articles can be several years old, so do be cautious on that front. Specifically on ID, CFA Institute changed the rules several years ago – they now only accept passports as acceptable forms of ID, as @tingwuwang‌ and @Stuj79‌ says.

I sent in a name change form by email last week (the ol’ middle name conundrum) and it took less than 24 hours for them to come back to me with an amended ticket. So I’d definitely do it just to be safe!

yep, only an international passport would be accepted during the exam. normal ID, drivers licenses, and whatnot are not acceptable.

they just emailed me back saying capitalization or spaces between names is fine, as long as the spelling is fine. nearly gave me a heart attack.

It’s always best to double-check with the exam center, but generally, as long as your name is close enough and matches your identification photo, you should be fine. But still, you can reach out to the CFA institute or the exam center to clarify any doubts.

Apologies for reviving this old thread, but I just want to give my two cents. Don’t worry too much about the slight difference between your passport name and the name on your CFA ticket. It’s understandable that there can be variations in names across different identification documents.
