@chiyyngtan probably not a good idea because CFAI does change the contents of the curriculum.

However CFAI posts up what they changed from the last exam which you can use to cover anything the old Schweser notes didn’t cover.

Hi, I can only tell you about my personal experience. I used Schweser notes from 2010 for the Dec 2012 L1 exam, and I think they worked perfectly well. Bear in mind, though, that I did all my main studying from the CFAI materials (some topics like economics and derivatives I read from the Schweser notes because they are more concise) — I used the Schweser material mainly for the question bank and the practice exams and the ‘mind map’ set of formulae. Oh, I did pass Level 1 in case you were wondering! 😉

As @Zee and @Diya said, it is better to have the 2013 syllabus.

Having said that, I can tell you that I studied using the 2012 material, and this was mainly because I wrote the exam in Dec 2012 and didn’t pass. So instead of getting the new material, I studied from the old material and referenced this: passingscorefinance.com/LOS/2012-2013/cfa_loschanges1.pdf

The only thing I did get of the 2013 material is the two volumes of Practice Exams that Schweser has. But since you’re writing the Dec 2013 exam, it is better that you go for completely updated material just so that you face no hassles at all.

@chiuyngtan I would try hard to use 2013 syllabus material. The CFA exam is time-consuming enough – I’d rather not have to supplement it with using older material that I have to match changes with.
